TheMatrix 2,013
Larry was a good guy. I had met him a couple times while living in Cebu and he helped with the paperwork in helping to immigrate my wife to the US. I currently live about 15 miles as the crow flies from where he grew up here in Central West Oregon. I often told him how much of a paradise this part of the State was and he countered with an almost opposite experience. I guess growing up in the rough logging days was a varied experience. Quote: "You are definitely in one of the better parts of Oregon. I was raised between Toledo (pop 3000) and Siletz (pop 1200). Siletz had fourteen unrelated stabbings earlier that year, in one week! While the FBI ranked Toledo as having the second highest crime rate in the state. Depressed economy, drugs, and racial tensions combined brings out the best in people."

Popular Post +to_dave007 5,899
On 12/29/2019 at 4:35 PM, colemanlee said: Extremely saddened by the news, never met Larry but corresponded with him sometimes on messenger....we always said we wanted to meet in person but something always got in the way....guess you really should not put things off... I took the whole family (wife, kids, MIL, niece.. 7 in total) to Dumaguete on December 27th just past. Everyone else was going to visit with wife's sister.. and I was going to visit with Larry, whom I had never met face to face. Initially we planned to get together on the 28th at a gig where Rony was singing at 3pm.. but that gig got cancelled. Rony had another from 7pm to 10pm that night, but I begged out of that one, preferring to spend time with my wife. We have a young child.. so couldn't really take her to the bar. So.. Larry suggested we get together for early dinner the next day.. the 29th. Didn't work that way did it. Rony informed me the morning of the 29th that Larry had passed the night before. So on the 30th I used Larry's instructions and found FinBar.. a very nice restaurant and bar in Dauin at Washington street. .. right on the National Highway some distance south of Dumaguete. Run by an English woman. Popular with the dive crowd. Great.. and I mean GREAT pulled pork burger.. And the owner told me how the dive instructors who were there that night tried to get Larry's heart going again. And I had a couple beer.. and another for Larry. Not sure what I would.. or could.. have done if I was there the night of the 28th. And I went to St Peters.. on the National Highway.. about 1/2 to 1 km south of the Dumaguete city limits.. and met Rony.. and Larry as well I suppose. And a brief prayer... and a donation to the box. No funeral arrangements had been made as yet. Lots of Rony's family there.. and a few foreigners in and out... Like me. Spoke to a few of his friends over the past few days.. It's clear Larry was very well liked and respected. RIP Larry.. I will remember you as a sane and simple and level voice here at LINC. Wish I had come sooner to Dumaguete.
