Bright, sunny, and calm hereabouts this morning. The only sign here that there is a storm is the dozen+ ships anchored at safe harbor off Dumaguete.

looks like no more planes to land at manila airport for the next several hours

the only one I see just landed

looks like planes are getting out of there  not to get stuck there

Very typical and smart for the airlines. Hard to anchor a big plane for high winds.

Still a little cloudy here - no wind and no rain.

They've closed all the schools here again though...

Headshot

Calm sunny day here in Mandaue, but the schools are all closed due to the Signal 1 warning. Idiots. This is the third time they have cancelled classes this year due to a nonexistent threat.

Anyone have a link for live updates of the position? It was quite windy earlier with light rain. Now the rain has increased but the wind has slowed down. Could that mean the eye is near? Btw I'm in Batangas near Taal volcano.

Thanks Woolf! How could I forget about windy? Looks like the eye is straight south on Mindoro. Far enough away to not be hit too badly. That is a relief. The wind is increasing again so I suppose the second phase had begun.

It is going to weaken AND maintain its strength. Only in the Philippines.

It is going to weaken AND maintain its typhoon strength. That's exactly what it says. I don't know how you can argue against that.
