I expect he told the govt “I’ll fix my disability pension and then go back to the Philippines” or something similar.

Bingo..  we have a winner !!

Received email back from Canadian Govt.. Clear that their decision to NOT support a flight back is final, and based upon things he said in a phone call this past week.  So..  he HAD the approval.. and then shot off his mouth and lost it.

I believe Canada is same.

Like I said, he had no intention of getting on a plane. He is a player, and he played this so they wouldn't put him on a plane (by paying for the ticket). You will have to change your phone number again. This guy just lost another friend (one less burden for you).

Wow, sorry to read all of this Dave. Sometimes there is just no helping people. I’d def. change my number again and write him off. Let him sort his own issues out. Sounds like you’ve done all that you could.

13A Visa holder intending to fly out on Oct 10 or 11.  Been in PI 10+ years without exit.  I think all annual amounts paid up to date.

QUESTION 1 - Exit Clearance (ECC) required?

QUESTION 2 - Get Ticket before ECC or Get ECC before ticket?

QUESTION 3 - What requirements for ECC beyond:

  • Valid Canadian passport
  • Valid ACR-I card
  •  Application form (at BI)
  •  The normal 2 to 4 passport photo's.

(In case anyone wonders..  sharing costs of getting him back to Canada with another Canadian and an Australian)

As for as I know ECC for 13A is done at the airport and can only be done there

For a 13A holder it is a bit expensive

there must be a 13A holder that must  have traveled out the country lately

that can give the details

a little more info

I always do exit clearance at the airport. I left earlier this year and the fee was 2,880php.

There are no requirements on a 13a visa. You just show you card and pay the fee.

I’d suggest you confirm the annual reports were made properly.  I know there are instances where reports were made, but records not updated (surprise surprise). I’m pretty sure the annual reports will not be settled at the airport, if they are in arrears. I’d suggest a trip to the BI prior to the flight to be sure.

After reading the original story i think it would be wise to check at the BI

Thanks guys..  Die is cast now..  Ticket purchased now departing early am on Oct 11..  and we are heading into BI on Oct 2..  early morning..  HOPING to get whatever we need done right then and there.  Will be in city for other reasons on Sept 30..  so I may just go talk to the big guy at BI..  and see what's the bad news.

If anyone knows what ECC or EXIT will cost for 13A holder..  all advice would be appreciated.  Our group budget for ECC is 4000 peso..  and we hope to have change left from that. I see Maximian says 2880 peso..  Anyone else got same experience?  any extra fees likely?

NOT expecting this to be easy..  so the better prepared I am.. the more comfortable I'll be.

I'll be reviewing ALL his documents..  hopefully including receipts..  Oct 2..  One thing he IS good at.  is keeping receipts.

I assume you are 13A holder..  right?

do you need to do any other documents at exit?  or in prep for exit?

When I get him to airport on 10th.. I'd LIKE to be able to go to check-in with him..  and even better if I can escort him through to Immigration exit counter..  I am NOT travelling so will have no ticket.  Anyone else ever try this?

Thanks Woolf..  I had previously looked at that page..  and it left me not knowing if he needs to get ECC or not.. since I don't see 13A visa type mentioned.

As far as I know  the ECC-B  is for 13A holders that is not leaving for good (plan to come back

ECC-A is for tourists  and apperently for 13A holders leaving for good

3. Holders of valid Immigrant or Non-Immigrant Visas but are leaving for good

;I think I remember there is problems with giving up the 13A when leaving

You better  go to immigration and talk with that healthy guy at the front desk

I'm thinking along same lines..  there is a difference about whether or not he INTENDS to come back.. and if we have a choice I'd rather choose the EASIEST way..  not necessarily cheapest.

I doubt you will be able to escort him.  However, some useful info here.

There is a departure tax, separate from the terminal fee and ECC costs.

Ouch.. these fees are adding up..
