Changing US banks while in the Philippines

Has anyone opened a US bank account while living in the Philippines? I am fed up with my US bank and would very much like to change banks but I am not planning a trip home in the foreseeable future. Is it possible?

I did it 4 or 5 years ago. You need a US address and a valid and current US ID like a DL. The debit card was sent to the mail-forwarding service and I had them forward it to the Philippines.

No risk in trying.  I think some have had success opening a Schwab account.
