How is the 30 days Visa on Arrival Calculated?

Recommended Posts

Just wonder with the 30 day standard visa on arrival is calculated. Do they count the day of arrival and day of departure in those 30 days? If one arrives July 1st can he depart on July 31? Or Aug. 1st without penalty? Thanks very much.

My last arrival was on July 7.  My 30 day visa expires on August 6, which is a period of 31 days including date of arrival - so that day is not counted.

the day of arrival does not count

so if you arrive on july 1   you must leave on july 31 or extend no later than july 31

that is how I understand it

I arrived July 13 and my stay is valid until August 12 (today).

Planned to go to immigration now but it seems they decided last thursday to have a national holiday today. Arghh.

I always go 5-7 days before last, then I do not run into that problem

What's the fun in that?

Actually it was that horrible weather we had here lately that made me wait until today. 2 x 45 km on a scooter when the rain is pouring down is not my idea of a good time.

There are other forms of trans.  You should be ok tomorrow because of the holiday but in the future I would suggest going earlier and you can do it any time.  No need to wait until near the end.

Much easier just to ask for 59 days upon entry.

Cheaper and a big time saver too, especially if it's a 45 minute ride in the rain to JMall.

They haven’t let me do that. Not for trying. Is there a method? Is it just Manila vs. Cebu?

I'

I'm assuming the only reason for this question, is OP plans to visit here and wants to maximize his initial visa before leaving? If so, don't risk it. Get a round trip ticket for leaving 29 days after arrival. Then no worries. If not, then he has many options to extend visa (I've done it 7 days before it expired, or a week after it expired, or anytime in-between).

For me its 1 1/2 hours road trip and a 2 hour boat ride. Then an overnight stay.
