Macy's Camera Shop, Cebu

Recommended Posts

This camera shop deserves a high recommendation. They have really knowledgeable staff. More importantly they have a lot of top equipment readily on hand at competitive prices. I was impressed with their inventory, advice, and pricing.

If you're looking for good camera gear in Cebu then this is the place. Cash price cheaper than cards so plan accordingly.

The Banilad shop may be small but they know what's up and have the goods.

Best landmark would be Oakridge Business Park. Not far at all from there. Minimal signage but not too hard to find.

I went to Macy's Camera at APM branch. My lens has a small blemish that needed to be cleaned, and the SD card slot spring stopped working. They charged me 3,000 to clean the lens and 3,500 to fix the SD card slot spring (Nikon D3400). Was I overcharged?

Sounds steep for the spring. The 'blemish' really depends on the lens involved. If it was just a kit lens that came with the 3400 it might have been better just upgrading/replacing it.

A brand new Nikon D3500 with two kit lenses only runs about 500 bucks after all.

But I feel your pain. The constant high humidity is a real bitch on optics here isn't it?

Lots of good advice on YouTube etc on how to make a DIY dry box which I'd consider a necessity in the tropics

Many of my pill bottles from the VA have the silica pac .  I save all of them and put them in my camera case when I visit the Philipiines
