SkyMan 23,725
Looking to replace the stock speakers in my truck with decent, not necessarily awesome, speakers. When I was in HS I had a pretty good idea of the high, middle, and low end brands but that was a few years ago and there has probably been some changes in what is good and what is junk. I watched a yt video on an android head unit and the guy in the video mentioned it was similar cost, quality to a Kenwood system. One of the comments on the video was a guy who claimed to work in a car stereo outlet and he was saying that none of the android units were any good for sound quality and it wasn't a good idea to compare them to Pioneer and Kenwood. When I was in HS Pioneer was pretty low end and Kenwood just a bit better. Those were the two brands most frequently advertised on sale (particularly Pioneer) and their sale prices were just lost leaders to get people in the store so the sales guys could talk them up to higher end products. Anyway, what are the current car speaker brands that might be worth a little more than others?
cookie47 2,032
Ive had a couple of vehicles already aftermarket fitted with Alpine Gear. Both head unit and Speakers However as I was not interested in brain shattering power i was quite pleasantly surprised at the sound. (In a 70 Series agricultural Landcruiser).I am sure you have done Google but this is what i found....Although Alpine just makes the list. https://caraudiologic.com/best-car-speakers/Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using Tapatalk

I found a different but similarly titled list but yours seems to be a little more in depth and looked closer at the base and that's good because I don't plan on getting a subwoofer. That list had the Kickers (slightly different model DS-265) as #1 and noted the high quality construction as your list knocks them for that. Guess I'll have to take the door apart again to verify the size and depth I can accommodate and figure out what I want. And what I can get. Great sound but not over the top deafening. @ Tomas 4x4 in Ormoc Well, the head unit I'm pretty well decided on. I want an android touch screen. There are a few brand names that make them but most of them are too expensive for me. Then there are a lot of cheap no brand ones that don't seem to have any concern for the sound quality. They are all about navigation and video. Then I found a Dasaita brand that comes with a 10.2" touchscreen, android 8 on a PX5 chip, 2G rom, 32G ram with a DSP and 50wpc so it does ok with sound and doesn't need an amp I'd rather not have to get. Almost bought it but but got to chatting with one of their techs and the new model is releasing next week, PX6, android 9 and twice the memory so I'm awaiting the price for that to decide. SkyMan 23,725
So I finally got around to soldering up all the wires for new head unit..... The pixelation you see is from downsizing the pics.
SkyMan 23,725
It really sounds better than the stock AM/FM/Aux that was in there even still with the stock speakers. When I get the new speakers in I should be very happy. The before pic.....
Paddy 1,442
You and your truck kinda reminds me of the Johnny Cash song... “I'd get it one piece at a time And it wouldn't cost me a dime You'll know it's me when I come through your town I'm gonna ride around in style…” 😀

The only options I had were White or Silver. So now I'm just adding the options I want and probably cheaper than would have been charged by Ford.
