Language spoken on Palawan?

Recommended Posts

Paul

Hi All,

I'm planning a trip over to Palawan, a bit later this year.

Does anyone know what language is spoken on Palawan?

I guess what I am curious about is, will Filipinos understand Cebuano there?

Paul

We travelled to Peurto Princessa and northern palawan where the locals spoke Tagalog. My wife is visayan and we did meet people from the visayas working there but generally the locals don't understand even basic cebuano. After I called a trike driver "dong" in PP, he asked my wife in tagalog what "dong" means.

But Palawan is a wonderful place. PP is a nice clean city and we loved Port Barton although the road getting in there is a bit of a challenge. Kinnibusch pub in PP is a great place to meet locals, expats and travellers and get the latest travel info.
