WTF with Grab??

Recommended Posts

Just a few months and now they no longer accept normal credit cards!?

From https://help.grab.com/hc/fil/articles/115014922167-Adding-my-card-to-GrabPay

Quote

*Only cards with the EMV chip technology and details such as 16-digit card number, expiry date, and CVV can be added (e.g. GCash, PayMaya, BPI e-Prepaid, BDO Cash card and the likes)

What's the alternative? Do I really have to use cash? I applied for GCash too a year ago but they never replied. PayMaya seems like a prepaid card but how can you withdraw unused money from it?

Just call for an updated card, most are chipped now.

That's funny, but I don't think those services are allowed to accept cash...

I used cash in Manila no issues. Uber I dont know.

Grab takes credit cards setup via your account.

for whatever reason Rep1’s cards did not work.

My cards were working just a few months ago, now they all fail, saying no visa and no master card.

They did accept cash today, but how do the drivers and Grab split cash??

I have always used cash with Grab.  I don't think cabs are exclusively Grab here in Cebu, therefore they accept cash.

You get a lot less points if you pay by cash. Can top up your account to drivers (if they have enough payment due), or can top up at 711, SM, and other places.

Uber is no longer in Philippines.

Same here I used cash for Uber in Manila.  I made about 8 trips from a Hotel right in front of the US embassy to NAIA and cost was about 270 to 340 peso, and for the most part the taxi price was cheaper.

Last trip was to airport. Cash. Out of banknotes as usual. I paid P1000. Okay for the last one though.

I always use cash for grab taxis and grab cars. Never had an issue. Of note though, they never seem to have change so make sure that you do.

I find quite the opposite,  grab at least in Manila area always have change for like 1000 peso, now taxi drivers is another story.
