Windows 10 Folder Size - File Count Errors

Recommended Posts

Just transferred a load of files from my old laptop to the new pc (both running Windows 10 pro) and upon checking I see that my new pc doesn't include all the files in the folder size count... ???

For example (simplified) on my old laptop (32 bit):

Top Folder - Size = 110mb

Includes two sub folders 50mb each...

And one lone file 10 mb

BUT on the new pc (64bit)

Top Folder - Size = 10mb

Includes two sub folders 50 mb each... which shows correctly at the folder level...

And one lone file 10 mb

Bit odd - I had a look online - cannot see anything - cannot believe I'm the only one - appears to be the image files that it excludes - any ideas ?

hmmm the old laptop will be stuck on v1709 whereas the new one is 1803... seems the problem is caused by long file names - once w10 pro 1803 or later encounters one then it stops counting!

Great... it's a bug - not fixed yet.
