what is this? It is not a suddenly imported or an artifical word at all but in the Filipino lexicon anyway, together with a lot of other Sanskrit and Hindi words. Even the word ASAWA meaning spouse, which is one of the few Filipino words most foreigners know, is of Sanskrit origin. Indian is one of the big influencers on Filipino culture - language, beliefs/superstitions, clothes, heaps of things.
