cookie47 2,019
Hi All. Not a happy camper.Went to Daanbantayan last week. Tried to do a licence conversion @Medilin.SORRY OFF LINE TODAY.. So Had to go JMall today with my wife to pick up her "new" NBI clearance. She went last week on her own but got a "hit", so today we returned with no issues. Took about 2 mins to pick up.Now.Want to get PH drivers license.. This was my first time at Jmall.I saw LTO.. AHHHH GOOD.Spoke to guard, Got Told to go to senior line counter. Wife does the talking..... Got papers, told lady i wanted to do a conversation. Wife spoke to officer, gave passport and Aussie driver's license.Got told to see "senior" office lady at end desk. Looked at passport and was told that..... I need to have MORE than 12 months of "Visa" validation to be able to apply. As i have been in the Philippines for more than 3 months (just) my VISA (which is in fact a Balakbayan privilege) I can't avail a drivers license. So i said How do i drive. I've exceeded the 90 days available on an overseas license. And i cant get a Philippines licence as i don't have 12 months validity REMAINING on. my Balakbayan Privilege. She said "wait for it" YOU CANT APPLY AND YOU CAN'T DRIVE... What i have to do is next year when we do a Balakbayan run, WITHIN one month of returning to PH i then "apparently" can apply as they will give me one month "grace" to do so. I'm not making this up boys and girls. She showed us a document that spelled this out. So based on the above if anyone is arriving on a Balakbayan privilege and intends to stay longer than 90 days, AND wants a PH license,,, get your PH license ASAP.. So back to the drawing board. (and taxis)..... Im slightly p1ssed. Off The senior lady who i might add was so helpfull and patient said that she could not bypass this rule as auditing was now prevalent.. Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using Tapatalk YES it is a few years ago that they made that rule There could be another problem, that was mentioned to you at LTO As far as I know you will need an ACR-I card Edited September 26, 2018 by Woolf
maximian 436
Try another LTO office, as you may get a completely different answer and be able to convert your licence. Its worth a try. Edited September 26, 2018 by maximian

Already asked that question... Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using Tapatalk

Gus 972
If its really important to you ..Read Lamoes thread on how he got a drivers licence. You,ll need to forgo your balikbayan privilege, ( if thats possible) and apply for 2 back to back 6 month tourist visas. Or convert to a 13a ..married to filipina visa , Or wifey n you do a nice quick trip to the cheapest possible overseas destination, and start balikbayan all over again .Sent from my vivo 1713 using Tapatalk
