Slimline Sata Interface...

Recommended Posts

Just wondering whether my laptop will work with this caddy...

The DVD I took out from the Laptop looks like this:

I think it will (as I think the caddy allows to separate leads - power and data ?) whereas my current drive has it all in one...

Anyone know for sure?

The bottom picture  is an ide/pata  interface with a special connector, parallel data transfer

the top picture is a  SATA interface, serial data transfer

those are  NOT compatible

your laptop must be a bit old

Thanks Woolf - yes it's a UJ842 Panasonic ODD - manufactured in 2006... IDE interface.

I’m not clear what you’re looking for, but the Greenware store in Baybay city has optical drives for DVD burning, DVD viewing and data store.  I bought several for my kids and they’ve been quite reliable and cheap.  Asus brand, I think it was ₽3000 or so.

Not internal, uses usb connection.

I'm looking for one of these now :

9.5mm IDE Optical Bay Hard Drive Adapter Caddy

http://www.microsatacables.com/95mm-ide-optical-bay-hard-drive-adapter-caddy-cad-95mm-ide

It's so you can put a SSD or another HDD in the space where the DVD is... I really want to put some USB 3 ports in there but I cannot find a "caddy" that has that.
