Cebu-Mactan Terminal 2 International Experiences

Weird experience with our bags on arrival from Hong Kong on Cathay CX 925 last night around 7.20pm.  Waiting by the carousel and almost straight away three of our four check-in bags come out with the priority luggage.

So we are waiting and waiting for the last bag which was my wife's small suitcase.  10, 20, 25 minutes go by - no sign of the bag.  Most of the passengers had by now disappeared out through customs with their bags.  My wife is getting really agitated but fortunately a cousin of hers works for the CX ground handlers and he went off to get a colleague and together they went in search of the missing piece.  So, by now we're there about 35 minutes.  No new bags are appearing on the carousel.  My wife goes right up to the point where the bags come into sight on the carousel and asks the guys behind if there are any more bags from CX 925 to come out - "No ma'am" they tell her.  By now she is mightily peed off.  So we are already to start filling forms to report a lost bag when lo and behold the missing piece (previously unseen of course) comes out on the carousel for the first time!

The bag was properly tagged by CX for Cebu but as it was a new suitcase my wife hadn't got around to putting a personal ID label or tag on it.  I have no idea what was going on last night but one obvious take away from the experience is not to accept a "no more bags to come" routine until you have really checked it out carefully.

I came thru T2 this morning at 10am. i would guesstimate 300 or more people in line and only 4-6 agents manning the booths. Sooooo phuckin’ slow.  But i did get out of line and hung a left and went straight down to the end to a little unmarked desk and got my 30-59 day extension, paid the 3000 then was escorted to a booth where i was photographed and finger printed and was out in maybe 10 minutes. Many thanks to Enuff for the directions. it also saves me a trip to the Bi for an extension.

Also......big shortage of taxis both white and yellow.. 15 minute wait.

Grab had a promo and a big banner at T1 for over a year (welcometocebu ?) - is that now expired ?

Any promo signs in the new terminal ? I've always gotten a Grab pretty quickly from the old terminal.

Still works, for coming or going from the airport. 100p off. Makes it cheaper than a taxi if taking a car to the airport from Fuente in the early mornings.

Example, this week i have a flight out at 5am, last time i took a taxi it was 250p all in, but i priced the trip in grab at the same time and it was a little less than 200 with the promo.

Thanks - will try it on my way back in. Last time I tried late at night it didn't work - though I was traveling back and forth a lot and it might have a limit.

I went OUT from there on Monday - and didn't realise we could use it to go there - I'd only used it from the old T1.

The new T2 is a nice building....... the procedures not so nice.

Your visitors and loved ones are NOT allowed inside the building to sit with you to say goodbye. They are stuck outside in the heat (even the old T1 allowed them in to an area with AC and a few shops and restaurants - like most international airports around the planet).

The immigration is a HUGE delay - getting there 2.5 hours before flying is not enough any more. When I left - at peak time with around 200-300 people in the *single* line - they reduced the number of Immigration officers/lanes to 3, even taking away the ones for special card holders and Air Crew (3 more were there but went off on a break I guess). The plane I was on was delayed taking off for around 30 minutes waiting for people to get through the lines to make it onto the plane.

Yeah I know "it's more fun in the Philippines, yada yada yada"   -   but it's still a cr*p set up...

Let's hope they extend the "Express Lane" to the airport. Hehehe

Strictly from a distance point of view, it should be about 200 to 300 meters from T1 to T2.  Don't know what obstructions are in the way to make it difficult to walk it.  Likely NOT easy to push a buggy, especially with ongoing construction.

Overall.. it's a good question..  what's the best way to get from T1 to T2 and back?

The reason I ask is because when I return to Cebu my bag will be heavy and I will need to go to T!..Not a problem for me to wheel but I was thinking about the construction mess ..Im sure in the future they would have a covered area connecting T1/T2 with a powered walk way..Yeah to much to ask for

The last time I landed at T2 (in July?) there was a free bus at the end of the external covered walkway that transferred everyone to outside T1...

Last night I went to collect my wife from T2 and all I can say is that compared to the old Terminal it's a disaster.             To pick someone up one must enter the car park which creates a problem in itself with the number of vehicles trying to enter. The area is still under construction so there is insufficient room. Compounded with this all the MPVs hog the area near the car park exit since its closest to the Arrivals exit gate which aggravates getting to the exit Pay Booth and lastly (showing my age here), there is no Senior Citizen free parking.

My recommendation would be for arrivals to take the elevator to the Departure level walk to the Departure drop off point, stick your luggage in the car and depart pronto. Obviously a bit of coordination is required as you cannot hang around the Departure drop off area for long.

Yes..  when I came through last time the parking lot between the two terminals seemed like a disaster..  looked like all vehicles having a very tough time to get out to come to pick up area.

You would figure that this being a new terminal, the airport authority would have a designated parking lot for people waiting to pick up their peoples. Otherwise known as a cell phone lot.?

They have a shuttle bus that runs every 15 or 20 minutes.

I am hoping in the next 2 months when I arrive that some of the crap is fixed/adjusted. I will be attempting to pick up a white taxi to IT Park. Trying to be an optimist :D
