Did the jetway work or did you go downstairs to a bus to the plane?

I flew out of Gate 22, and the jetway/tunnel was fully active for it. When you take the escalator down after your ticket is scanned you're still at least 1 floor above ground, it was a pretty level walk from there down the tube and onto the plane.

Forgot to add that it looked like some of the furthest gates to the right (near Burger King) may not be ready yet? Indoors is fine but I think the tarmac and tunnels for that area are incomplete. I think they're only using the gates to the left and center (as seen from inside the terminal) right now, which leaves room for expansion as more airline options and flights are added.

Is there a smoking area? It's billed as "The Friendliest Gateway to your Destination" I will be having a ten and a half hour flight from there in a few weeks.

There is a smoking room sign near the chapel / prayer area. I didn't take a close look since I don't smoke, but hopefully it'll be open and available in time for your travels if it isn't already ?

Just at the airport now using T2 for the first time. As OP said, still plenty of rough edges to work on. Signage is poor.

One little tip for the Seniors among us that I hit on by accident.  To the right hand side of the airport departure tax payment booths there is access point into the immigration queuing area. The queue at around 10am was very long so I asked a security lady if I had to join the end of the queue. She asked me my age and when I told her she said there is fast track for seniors. Her colleague then led me through the queue to an empty line in front of the desks and I was called forward immediately by the Immigration Officer.  Probably saved me at least 20-25 minutes in the line.

I am not cheap but I appreciate value. The food in the new terminal is overpriced. People often say "airports are like that". Bullshit. I was at the new Terminal 4 Singapore a week ago. Amazing airport. Got a coffee for about $1.10 USD. Outstanding. Food was not expensive.

When I flew from the new Cebu airport on the second day it was open there was a total of one drinking water dispenser. Guess what, it was broken.

The Cebu airport did not impress me.

Just been to Mactan Airport. It would be less confusing if the signage said DOMESTIC TERMINAL and INTERNATIONAL TERMINAL and not Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. I saw a number of departing passengers who were told by the guard at Terminal 1(Domestic) that they were at the wrong Terminal pointing them to T2. They had probably landed at T1 and expected to depart from there.

Is it possible to walk to terminal 2 from terminal 1 or vice versa?

Fly out Saturday night and there are not enough seats in the place, lots of people sitting on the floor!  The travel tax booth was easy to find, but immigration with the 13a was a pain because there is only one cashier for all of those immigration windows.  No signage that was attention getting or even helpful in the area.  If I didn't see it, the sign didn't do it's job and that's just the way it is!

Lots of people mopping up the floors on a continuous basis, as the construction on the ceiling is not finished.  Interesting how they chose wood and not steel for the crossmembers.  If its treated wood it should be OK.

Also, the gates are too close together, it's like, "Where do I stand?" and it seemed that nearly every flight was running late, including mine.  To be honest, they tried to jam 12 pounds into a 10 pound bag. They just don't have the space for a world class airport.

Much like everything, there is room for improvement.

I just flew in today on Cathay Pacific. Took about 5 mins longer than normal to deplane, normal for new.

Quick walk to passport control, went over to the left (open office area) for my extension. Handed lady passport and p3000, done in 4 mins without question. After you go to front of the line. Got stamped for Sept 6, 2018.

Down escalator to baggage, plenty free carts. Loaded bags and off to customs. No scanners yet, just hand paperwork and roll out.

My driver was in parking lot next to exit, maybe 40m walk. P25 parking fee.

Everything was fine by me.
