Having had to repair/ replace a rotted floor in a recording studio recently, it has highlighted something not many will realize.

In the shops/ merchants, you will find plywood and ply board. Now the ply wood will come in ordinary and marine grade so choose for use. The ply board is just one grade.

Cost wise, there's not a lot in it maybe 200 Php for a 3/4" full sheet.

I had always known that plywood is multiple layers all glued together. The more layers the better.

Plyboard t thought was a sold core with a thin wood veneer on each side. Well KIND OF!!!

Having pulled up the floor, we saw it was ply board but what was inside shocked me. Its nothing but random offcuts of varying timbers just placed together then skinned in a veneer both sides. There are bloody great big gaps, all sorts inside, hidden away from view.

So.....never ever skimp and buy plyboard, i know the plywood here isnt great, but this is frightening given its nearly the same costing!!!
