Seek Tour Guide For Pre-Retirement Trip

Recommended Posts

Ah yes, a professional tour guide. Probably a recent graduate from the Ateneo Tour Guide Degree Program  [ ATGDP ]

You wont find a tour guide for $7 a day [ I didn't say you would ]

Expect to pay for her air fare, meals,  local transportation, entrance fees and a room in a decent hotel, and about 1500-2000 pesos a day allowance.  She in return will leave you will a smile on your face every morning !

Anyone who has lived here for any amount of time knows that the term " tour guide"  most of the time means a girl who will take care of ALL of your needs while she accompanies you on your travels .

Oh now i see , Tour Guide = Escort Girl  + $ = :)  Got it..

Who needs a professional guide? What you want is a local guide ... a girl who can speak the local dialect and help you out with your conversations with other locals. Of course, someone who is willing to give you a massage after a long day and keep you warm at night is a bonus.

Seriously, a guide doesn't need to be an expert in everything. She just needs to be able to communicate (with you and others), so when you are looking for something, she can ask the right questions. Looking for an apartment is more talking with different people than it is in having knowledge about apartment details. She isn't likely to know what you are looking for anyway, unless you tell her. Once she knows, then she must be able to ask others for what you want. The best people to ask are usually the security guards at various complexes.

As far as looking for fun places to go and stay, most Filipinas are Facebook savvy enough (and have enough friends with varied experiences) to be able to find lots of different places. Again, just tell her what you are looking for.

Where do you find such a girl? Again, dating sites are a good place to start. Just be clear about what you want (a guide and companion), and girls who are interested in spending time with you will respond. Finding somebody in person in Cebu is a little more problematic. Most girls you meet locally are working. If she is working full-time, then she won't have much free time to devote to you. Just remember that you are looking for a guide (a traveling companion), and not a wife (though she may dare you not to fall in love, if you spend much time  with her).

This explains a lot.

I put an ad on Craigslist, to help a member out and have had numerous responses.

Then interviews are going swimmingly well and I should have the field narrowed down to just a dozen or so willing and eager candidates by mid march.

The things I do for the forum.

I understand that on dating sites, and perhaps on Craigslist, that could well be the case.  However, in reviewing the site linked below, I did not get the vibe that any kind of escorting was included in the listed tour options.  Nevertheless, the tour charges $400 USD per person for a two-day tour of Cebu, which seems pretty steep in light of the average wage in the area for people having the relevant level of education.

Congratulations- you found a company that is tour only ie no possibility of sex.  I think that is the one for you!  Enjoy your 2 days tour.
