On Tuesday afternoon, a rocket the size of a 20-story building, containing 27 engines and a cherry-red Tesla Roadster as its payload, is slated to lift off from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It will be the maiden flight of Space X’s Falcon Heavy, the most powerful rocket to launch in 45 years, since NASA’s Saturn V, which last flew in 1973.

UPDATE: Liftoff window has been delayed to 3:05 p.m. ET.

more on the payload

While this is just a test launch, the Falcon Heavy will be carrying Elon Musk's midnight cherry Tesla Roadster, which will be playing David Bowie's "Space Oddity" and carrying a dummy pilot dubbed "Starman."

this is where science met art

looks like a 100 percent success ..just waiting to hear of the main cores landing

but the side boosters landing next to each other simultaneously was just pure poetry

and they even put don't panic on the dashboard monitor

That was awesome! Sent it to my pal back in the States. We've both been space-nuts since back when Friendship 7 orbited earth.
