Oz Jon 2,477
I'm confident that the US stock market will recover (as it always has) and resume growth at its average ~10% pa rate for the S&P500 and ~15% pa for the NASDAQ100. The key question is...when! My guess is in about 18-24 months, if we rely on getting a vaccine available within 18 months. Recent reports (unverified) say that an existing AIDS medication kills the CORVID virus. If that's true it could speed up recovery time because usual new drug safety testing time could be eliminated. Maybe market recovery could be in as little as 12 months? I hope so! Meantime - don't panic - don't sell - buy good stock at bargain prices. Cheers

Cheers It is almost a year since this post and the stock market recovered earlier than predicted... 2020 was a great year to be invested in the biotech industry. CRISPR gene editing technology is the future of biotech. Crispr Therapeutics (CRSP) Editas Medicine (EDIT) Intellia Therapeutics (NTLA) Beam Therapeutics (BEAM) The above CRISPR tech companies gained 110% to 300% last year. This year and the future also look very promising.
BossHog 39,272
Got a tip on this clinical-stage pharma company and bought some shares @ $0.66 right before Christmas: Tonix Pharmaceuticals Holding Corp. (TNXP) They've since announced they have some Covid stuff in the pipeline (which pharma outfit doesn't?) including a skin test. Other drugs are in the works to treat fibromyalgia, ptsd, agitation in Alzheimer's, and cocaine overdose. They also do something with smallpox and monkeypox(!) which I don't understand. They last week announced some licensing deal with France for a drug treating a rare genetic eating disorder called Prader-Willi Syndrome. https://www.tonixpharma.com/pipeline/overview Tonix is building a big 44-acre factory property in Montana and is getting lots of new institutional investors. Not much PR yet but that seems about to change. Closed at $1.82 before the long Washington's Birthday weekend and some more upside looks quite possible so going to hold this one for a while and maybe even add some while it's still under two bucks a share. Prediction is that Tesla could grow 10 to 20 fold in the next 5 to 10 years. It will be nice to get $1 million or even $2 millions in few years....

(TNXP) ... at 1.90 pre-market so almost a triple. might i suggest you let people know just a little bit earlier about such tips? am rooting for the fibromyalgia trial. they've been working at it for a long time, had some costly failures with it. a good treatment would be very helpful for many people. and profitable. they need to pass the on-going second phase 3 trial though. the ptsd indications have been flops. i see no hope there. alzheimer's is being better handled by other companies although tonix may have benefited in sympathy with the recent run by SAVA with their results. but alzheimers is a bit of a biotech black hole, don't expect anything from it. actually i'm not seeing anything in their central nervous system indications that excite me other than fibromyalgia. other indications are being covered pretty well by other companies that are further along. the fibromyalgia indication excites me in part because they have acquired a certain reputation based on the earlier costly flops (adjusted for reverse splits, the share price was in 2012 at $40,000). if this and the below indications hit it will be a serious WTF moment for many people with long memories. and that's always fun. the vaccine stuff is all pre-clinical. the covid stuff will of course get the most immediate attention from the company. vaccines, antibiotics, and such are typically another biotech black hole--even when medically successful they are hard to commercialize. maybe the covid one (three?) will work out, but there is lots of competition, and the existing approved vax's will have plenty of time to adjust their existing product for new strains by the time tonix trials are done. so my reason for writing this all up is i'm using it for my own initial due diligence. the covid skin test has grabbed my attention. if it works it could be a biggy, not just for covid but for the likely extensions to other applications. need to look into it, but one good reason it has caught my eye is the success a company called Dermatek (DMTK) has been having with their new skin patch test for skin cancer. more accurate than slice your face up biopsies. i've never held this stock. have read stories from some who did. you are in at a much better price than most people ever were (by over 99%), and it's hard to argue against a triple. i think i'll take a small position for the patch, add on either decent dips or if it keeps running as a play on the data for the second fibromyalgia trial (hard to do, i only see 'second half 2021' as the due date). so anyway, unless you need the the cash, why not hold? figure if it falls back a certain amount sell it then. even a double is pretty good beer money. 1
rfm010 3,673
agree the general future of biotech looks good. but it has also had a good run and some items are looking a bit pricey at the moment. many think that the gene editing stocks are a good example. others (who? me?) may just be sour graping after taking profits much too early. for those who might wish to try the sector out, a good place may be the ARKG fund run by the cathie woods gang. it is an ETF comprised of gene editing/therapy type stocks. the nice thing about it in my eyes is that they are very active in trading in and out, so they hopefully won't hold on to something they think has become overvalued given their time frame. some people think that their buying and selling has caused a bubble in the sector as many individuals follow their trades. perhaps. but while the good times roll this is a good fund for those not knowledgeable in the field to enjoy the ride. do keep in mind when the general market turns south, biotech can turn south by orders of hemisphere. don't invest more than what you are willing to let your significant other know you have lost. ARK also has other ETFs in other sectors. i am also in ARKK. google it all, lots on youtube also. 2

I got lucky today, AGTC up 40% so far today, I am only using "play" money for this, I keep my serious money in Tesla, Crispr, Editas, Intellia. The YT channel is "Doctor Dean Investments"

Tonix is awaiting non-human primate trials on some cocaine intoxification med or some crazy shit like that I don't understand. Can you imagine if your job description as a lab technician was to administer cocaine to monkeys? The mind reels.

Biotech sector has been creamed the past 2 weeks, and TNXP was happy to join the party. I may slowly start adding a bit here, market showing such sensitivity to interest rates as to make me a bit leery about jumping back in too quickly. When it comes to timing i hold a special place under the far left tail of that great market timers bell curve in the sky.

Bought some Tesla for $550, this can go down more later in the afternoon when people are forced to sell because of margin calls, I will be there ready to buy their Tesla shares on the cheap... There seem to be a lot of trials using psilocybin as a treatment for PTSD.
