Last year, when oil prices shot up, so did cement prices. Now that oil has dropped can we expect cement to follow?

I was talking with our local hardware store this morning, Cement prices have stayed high since December 2008, however R/Bar has dropped, however on saying that, I was also told that the 12 mm R/Bar will go up as of next week. the price of cement will remain the same.

as long as there are only a very few players the price will never go down... seems strange but cement from china even with shipping and taxes is cheaper... but this is the Philippines..

What does it cost per sqare yard (if they sell it that way) when a truck comes with a load? Over here its usually 9 yard trucks. Is it the same? We buy 5 sack mix for most work. It's about $80-100 a yard and that covers 80 sq. feet at 4 inches (like a driveway).

A bag of the higher quality cement (Apo) is still around 205-210 pesos here in Bacolod.

If you buy 100 plus bags, you can get it a little cheaper.
