Smeg?? Bompani??

Recommended Posts

rep1

passed by a Smeg shop in Banilad some time ago, they were selling some cute looking but very expensive fridges. And I followed another member's post (regarding house building something) which leads eventually to Bompani, who also sells similar "retro" fridges. Seemly overpriced too.

What good about them except for the cute look and the brand name which nobody seems to have heard of? Any user here? I'm just wondering if I should waste money on that if I should win a lottery or something :)

Is that what I saw in Gaisano Country Mall?

Looks nice but that company Joud Appliances is in Syria?? How are they able to keep running?

I didn't see new ones, just 2 or 3 looks second handed

Hajaha no dude Hylife is that guy renovating his glamorous Hawaiian house and is uploading photos on here remember that huge black color double door fridge of him? I do certainly not promote Syrian fridges here.

Get a Samsung painter like that, much cheaper.

It's Art Deco / retro,  form before function design philosophy. Much more expensive than mainstream appliances for that reason.

CAD$180 for a kettle. I quite like the look but at that price, the kettle should fill itself AND make the tea.

I don't think you'd get quite the same effect painting a new, mainstream appliance. It's about shape and details as much as colour. It will also help if you have an art deco kitchen. Notice the radio on the window ledge, the scales (left of window) and the old fashioned kettle on the range. The toaster and oven units are (my opinion) "wrong" for this kitchen - although the toaster's shape is good.
