Having owned three motorcycles in three different countries (Sweden/India/Philippines) I would say speed is not the excitment of the bikes. Owning one as an entusiast is. Today, I would buy an OFF road to treck the mountains.....

"Sportbikes" for the Philippines need to have speed and go "off road", maybe Honda African Twin CRF1000L?
69.6 kW, 250mm Ground Clearance.
top speed 200 kmh ++

Pretty porky for off road.

Something like the KTM 500 or 690 would probably be a lot better for off road. If you just want rough road travel, even the MT-09 undercuts the AT by close to 100 lbs.

Well the CRF is a nice bike but it's fairly porky for any real off roading. Even the Versys 650 is lighter, and it has built in luggage.

The KTM 500 enduro weights less than half the CRF, just at 100kg.
