Recommended Posts

I am looking for any info on Condo's on Poro, Camotes Island. Something to western standards. I have googled everything I can and info is very limited. There is a little mention to a place called Monte Cristo here on this forum? Is it build and if so any info? Thanks

That doesn't mean he is the most versed in real estate investment opportunities.

This? http://montecristocondos.weebly.com

No update since 2013, also nothing from skyscrapercity, where agents and salesmen publish unofficial information.

Looks 99% dead

You do realise it's already 2017?

There was a member here talking about building condos on Camotes a while back, no?

You are correct.  Sorry, I was multi-tasking, that is to say, coughing, watching TV, drinking coffee, messaging on phone, googling, reading the inheritance thread and thinking about taking a shower.

I couldn't find anything more up-to-date, so I'm guessing that the opening didn't actually happen.

Yes there was, I think he was also an investor IIRC.

I visited the puertobello site in January of 2015, with the developer. Nice guy, from England I think, who is based out of Manila. The site itself was beautiful. Nice beach, lots of trees, and a part of it has a huge freshwater lagoon. Maybe 25 meters by 25 meters in size. 15 meters from the top to the water. Proper stairs would make it an incredible attraction. We walked it all, talked for a few hours. First problem I saw, was it is in the middle of nowhere. 25-minute drive to town, and lots of narrow dirt roads to get there. But his biggest problem, is he was dreaming way too big. Was going to do some aqua park theme in the middle, make it all high end (as you can see from his fb photos), and he needed to pre-sell most of it. I could not see how he could find 25-30 buyers upfront for it in the next 5-10 years, so I passed on it. He didn't have permits yet, and no way PAGCOR was going to give a casino license there. He was very passionate about it all, but to me, it was a dream only.

Next door, on San Fran island, there was a condo development halfway finished up in Esparanza. Pretty basic concrete building. I walked around it and just didn't like it. 30-minutes to town

I suspect that the seed money didn't materialise.  Camotes has been touted as a potential investment, but without a decent airport, it's a long term bet.

He planned to build condos. Resort in the middle, and 2 sets of condos on each side. But, yes, he needed seed money, and a lot of it. Been 2 years (and a lot of rhum in-between), but I think he said he needed p40,000 upfront, then p15,000 a month from me. Then, when he found another 25 buyers like that, he could start to build. And there you can see the obvious reason I walked.

I live in Pilar, Camotes. This island isn't developed like the others.

There was a posting on the Facebook page dated November 2016 that stated words to the effect that the project was still ongoing, and to keep checking the page for periodic updates. So if the poster was being truthful, the project is still "alive", so to speak. :)

The project is still alive with major construction to start in weeks. Projected opening date of resort is 12 months from now. It is a big project which is why the funding took so long. There is even an outdoor mall going in.

As far as condos for rent on Poro there really is not anything yet.
