A Wet End to the Week. Flooding for Some?

Recommended Posts

Please note the winds are only 20-25 knots this isn't any kind of typhoon and not even a tropical storm. But it sure is raining some!

Another Sendong in the making? Sendong had little in the way of winds, but dumped 18 inches of rain in 24 hours in some places.

It is certainly wet and windy here in Day-asan. We moored the boat up close to the shore on a short line and anchor and dropped it's canopy due to the strong gusts, so now we just wait out the storm.

My backyard is really starting to flood out.

We'll be hosting quite a few crab fishermen and their families tonight.

It's just easier to move people now than at high tide around 2:30 am.

Two hours ago I was working hard to convince the fisherfolk to come up for the night (shy).Had to bribe them with macaroni salad, fried chicken and Pixar movies on the projector, lol.

Should've just waited and saved my breath as the cops are in the fishing village now doing forced mandatory evacuations to the municipal gymnasium.

Batten down the hatches tonight on Cebu. There isn't much wind with this storm, but there will be a hell of a lot of rain tonight (mostly in the early morning hours) as it comes across Cebu.

It just stopped raining here after two days of rain going back and forth between light rain and torrential rain. Now we have a slight wind, but from the position of the storm, I guess we can expect another day or two of sometimes heavy rain.

I haven't seen much rain here in Cebu at all. Predicted rainfall by Windytv is much less than 24 hours ago.

Just now had a look around the adjacent fishermen village. Three feet of standing water under the stilt houses. An ipil-ipil tree snapped and took out a power line which is now dangling precariously over said water. Barefoot Tykes everywhere. Called the electric company who said they'd "get around to it". Crikey.

That was the problem with Sendong.  It hit in the night so folks had little time to get the heck out of dodge.

Thousands dead.

I noticed that. Another wasted school day today by declaring a Signal 1. I'm starting to think that windytv.com isn't a very good forecasting tool. It sure looked like we were going to get plastered, but it just bounced right over the top of us without much impact. We did get rain, but nothing significant.

Not sure what the delay time is on windtv but I do find if I keep reloading it the picture changes some..
