    CIE School- Good or bad?

Hi all My Daughter is 5 and will be starting school in Cebu at the CIE school. She had her first year in the UK but we are moving to Mactan in August for a couple of years and she starts there. Have any of you positive and negative comments about this school please? Trying to get some idea before we come over thanks - Rob
  2. I noticed an article on the net reporting the very high failure rate (around 50%) of graduates when later tested in Electronics Engineering Board Exams. Graduates need this qualification when seeking a professional job. So (being an EE myself) I looked up some previous Board Exam papers to find out just how hard they are to pass. Well, you don't need a great deal of EE knowledge to pass the exam I looked at, but you sure as hell have a problem working out what some of the (vague/ambiguous) multiple choice questions mean! ******************************************************** There are many examples. Here is one from this source:- <http://www.pinoybix.com/2014/09/pre-board-exam1-in-electronics-engineering.html> ECE Board Exam November 1995 Question 100. The decibel gain of cascaded amplifiers equals the ...... A. sum of voltage and current gains B. product of individual gains C. difference of individual gains D. sum of individual gains Required Answer:- 100. B. product of individual gains ************************************************************** The question talks about the "decibel gain" of a cascade, implying (but not stating) that the individual amplifier's gains are also decibel designated. That being so, then the correct answer is D. (the sum of the individual [decibel] gains). The required answer (product of individual gains) is correct only if the individual amplifier gains are numerically designated. [ie The examiner meant that amplifier gains are numerical not decibel designated! - who would have guessed that?] Now I have a clue as to one possible reason why the failure rate is so high ps. The calibre of the question is trivial (almost insultingly simple to ask it of a graduate Engineer)
  3. I think education is the key to stop pollution, especially the throwing of trash in any handy body of water.
