  1. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Alpha with a nano SIM card, and operates on Cricket - a subsidiary of AT&T. I'm trying to find out whether I am likely to be able buy a nano SIM card in Cebu to operate on the local network. A related question is whether there would be an advantage in buying a nano SIM card while still at home and using it to sign up for local service later, once I arrive in Cebu. Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Cell Phone Recommendations

Looking for inexpensive cell phone recommendations. will be getting one this week. Let me know what works. I just need something that works here till I get my stateside iPhone unlocked. I mostly text.
  3. Is anyone using Pasaload.biz to reload their phones? I have been using them for about 2+ years, no problems, no mistakes! I now find I am locked out of my account, cannot recover password or re verify! No email response. I have tried their help/ contact system, No reply! I have tried their sms, no reply! No answer on their phone line either! It pisses me off due to still having money in the account and the fact that the site is still up and operating! Just wondering if anyone is using them?
  4. We are arriving in Cebu city in mid February and are renting a home, for 14 days, in Sogod near the resort. We are not sure if it's better to rent a car or hire a driver. None of us have ever driven in a region like this before, and I am unsure if it's safe. Our arrival time is 11:45 pm. There are 6 of us. My other questions are: 1. Where can I get cell phones to be able to call the U.S. and to keep in contact with each other while we are there? Verizon is very expensive. 2. We are all active people who will want to hike, explore, and maybe have a few boating excursions. What are some of the best places to go near Sogod? I've heard of Bohol and swimming with Whale Sharks...are those easily accessed from Sogod? Are there people we can hire to take us on a boat island hopping/beach hopping in that area? 3. What is shopping like in Sogod? Food specifically. We plan on hiring someone to cook and clean for us while we are there....but I'm unsure of how to stock the house with food. 4. Any other helpful information would be ver appreciated!!

  6. Microsoft just unveiled the world's most affordable phone with video and music player, the Nokia 130.Priced at just €19 (approximately PhP 1,116 based on currency rates at press time) before taxes and subsidies, the Nokia 130 is positioned as the perfect device for first time phone buyers. It comes with a 1.8-inch QQVGA (160 x 120 pixels) color display, a built-in video and music player with up to 46 hours continuous playback on a single charge, FM radio, and a flashlight. The Nokia 130 runs on Series 30+ mobile platform and sports a microSD memory card slot which supports memory cards up to 32GB. This allows you to store up to 6,000 songs for almost two days of playback! Its 1020mAh battery is also said to provide up to 36 days' standby for the single-SIM variant and 26 days' standby for the dual-SIM model. Due to its ultra-affordable price tag, the Nokia 130 lacks an Internet connection. As it is clearly targeted at emerging markets, the lack of an Internet connection is not a potential deal breaker. According to Strategy Analytics, there is a huge market demand for such phones; 300 million phones from this category are sold every year.Microsoft is expected to start shipping the Nokia 130 in Q3 2014. It will be available in select markets such as China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines and Vietnam.
