Motorcycle Insurance / registration
Soupeod posted a topic in Vehicles, Driving, Servicing & Licensing Information
Is motorcycle insurance required in the Philippines? I was told it would take six months to get my registration done. No temp plates were given to me. Are there fixers via the insurance route for motorcycles the same as some have done with car registrations? I'm trying to figure out my next step, thanks. (I am in Leyte)- 7 replies

Good health or a lot of money
nostress posted a topic in Insurance: Health / Medical, Life, Home, Etc.
To retiree in the Philippines: The conclusion must be : You have to have a very good health or a lot of money. Because if you are more than 60 it will be more and more difficult and more and more expensive to get a proper health insurance. Do you agree? Merry Christmas everybody -
Don't know if this has already been posted but I'm being told that foreign spouses will no longer be covered under their wife's PhilHealth effective 1 July. Foreigners wanting PhilHealth coverage will need to get their own PH account and can do so now at the p200/month rate and you can pay 3 years in advance so 3 years would be p7200 total. If you wait to get PH until 1July the rate will be p17K/year or p15K/year if you're on PRA. https://www.philhealth.gov.ph/circulars/2017/circ2017-0003.pdf As far as I understand it the regular Pinoy rate, p200/month, is not changing, but again,

Early USA Retirees Keeping Obamacare When Living In Cebu
ChicagoMike posted a topic in Insurance: Health / Medical, Life, Home, Etc.
The wife and I are early retirees, moving to Cebu next year. We are currently in Illinois, enrolled in an Obamacare silver level (Blue Cross) health care plan. We pay 70 UDS a month and the government pays the rest (a little over 700 USD). If we were in a bronze level plan, the insurance would be free. I believe we can continue to take advantage of Obamacare subsidies when we become expats by doing the following. Use an Illinois relatives address for mailing purposes. Keep my reported taxable annual income (IRA withdrawal) around 22 thousand dollars. (note: Subsidy decreases as income ris -

topcat72m posted a topic in Insurance: Health / Medical, Life, Home, Etc.
Has anyone brought their wife/GF to Europe. Who do you recommend for travel insurance. She is only 28 and healthy so a bare bones policy is all we need. I'm searching from Ireland and keep getting results for trips starting in Europe. -
Can a Filipino be too old for Phil health?
batman2525 posted a topic in Insurance: Health / Medical, Life, Home, Etc.
I've also posted this post in "Phil health for foreigners" and decided to start a new thread with it. Talking with my G/F recently.....few months ago her 80 year old mother broke her hip and went to hospital in Cebu to get it fixed....it turned out to be quite expensive(I will get the figure and post) because the "old bird" didn't want to leave the hospital and stayed longer than what she should have.I mentioned to my G/F yesterday that its possible for foreigners to get Phil Health now because I read it on the forum and told her I would like to sign up for it next time Im in Cebu....I sai -
If you are over 70 years old and you are a beneficiary of your wife in Philhealth, please visit or ask your wife to your nearest PH office and get another MDR (Members Data Record) and you will find out your name is not there anymore! PH gives you another membership card wherein you are a LIFETIME member and no need to pay for the rest of your life as long as you are in PI. You can make your wife now as dependent and all the children, even if they are your step children. Take this from our experience as very recently i went there and show all my Official Receipt and was asking for a MDR since
