Kitchen Garden possible here?

Recommended Posts

We have enough space to grow a few vegetables in our garden.  Has anybody  tried it?  I can't even find a place to buy seeds.  At the price of bell peppers here, I'd be happy if I could grow a dozen or two of those.   Maybe the best idea would be to buy a couple of  tubs and fill them with potting soil and miracle-gro and see what happens.  Wouldn't have to buy garden tools then.

It's possible, but I would worry about the soil.  Soil contamination is common in urban areas.  Toxic stuff might leached from your neighbor's soil or factories nearby.

Depends on where you live in the Philippines. Have you tried ace hardware as they usually have a display of seeds.  In our area i can grow Peppers, Lettuce, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Tomatoes  etc  from around October till  March.

We grow various stuff... I am limited on space so we rotate... eggplant grows well and we get alot from just a few plants..okra too. We plant corn some and have had pretty good luck with that.
I planted collard greens over a year and half ago and we are still getting greens from them.

If you're limited on space a good practical read is "The Square Foot Gardener"
