Condo inspection tips?

If that is the case then if an inspector finds shoddy workmanship it has met the local standard and should be  acceptable to you  .

If you wanted  your condo to be built to Western standards then you should have specified that in the contract . I'm sure the developer would have been able to provide you a unit of that standard - of course at a much higher price .

Just look at Winland Towers . Although built very sturdily [ just look at the supporting beams !] the interior finish is not of a very high level . However, for the price  you pay you get a place that is twice the size of most others and you can then finish it to whatever level you want .  So you end up with a large condo [ comparatively] in a good location  for a much cheaper price than most other condo developments that are available .

I wasn't disagreeing - what I would consider shoddy is considered acceptable here - I'm prepared to live with that.

The inspection should be in accordance with the requirements you signed for...do you know what those were?

As with common convention here the contract stats very little of details. Almost blank.

But Im very happy to get my first home... flying back now to wait for the letter

And that my friend is where you should have demanded your specs for the condo.

Don't forget to check the foundations.

(Funny thing, when I went to look for the above image I googled 'foundation fail' and all I got were pics of women.)

They said real specs (wire layouts etc) are only given after completion.

If I have that I'd order my furniture now.

Anyone managed to get that earlier?
