  3. The guy in Talisay is not that good in english, but with a bit patience and sign language and friendly smiles you get what you want, that is if he CAN do it really he is a very nice guy I had a bike registered i Manila I wanted transferred to my name, he did the smoke test took the money called me next day (a saturday, his day of) and said he could not do it, and insisted that to give me back the money that day so I went to the test station and he showed up with the money
  4. Today
  5. Perhaps it is still a bill only - http://congress.gov.ph/legisdocs/basic_17/HB06925.pdf https://www.autoindustriya.com/auto-industry-news/new-bill-to-make-laws-rules-on-reckless-imprudence-fair-to-drivers.html In the meantime largest vehicle loses On the plus side - on my bicycle, my kids might get a payout from a tangle on the CSCR - unless a skateboarder in involved
  6. You just couldn't make this up. Nobody in a first-world country would ever believe that shit like this actually happens here ... but it DOES. My wife would prefer that I stop driving here for this very reason. A foreigner could be following all of the laws and still get tagged for reckless imprudence ... even though the other person was totally at fault in the accident. That could result in a foreigner getting locked up for several years in the Philippines with absolutely no recourse.

Why would anybody (in their right mind) listen to a recommendation that is essentially a marketing ploy by the jewelry industry? If you want to buy wedding/engagement rings, then spend whatever you feel you can easily afford. Nobody should ever put themselves into debt over jewelry. If you don't think rings are necessary as a show of commitment, then don't spend anything. Many married people in the Philippines wear no wedding rings. It isn't really an Asian custom.

I actually spent more - almost 6 months pay - about $600 https://www.femalenetwork.com/bridalbook/articles/guide-engagement-rings-etiquette-a00213-20190331-lfrm https://www.financialsamurai.com/the-new-rule-for-engagement-ring-buying/ An alternative - if she's willing - is to set a price range and shop the pawn shops
  17. I don't know Dawg. Whereas you are a high mucky-muck on LinC Forums, there are probably all kinds of government and NGO perverts keeping an eye on you...
  18. It is legal to drive here for 90 days after your last entry using a drivers license from your home country, so if somebody is only here for three months at a time, then there is no reason to get a Philippine drivers license. It would just be a waste of time and money.

    Thought For The Day

  21. Did some more research to locate the one you referenced 'Smoke emission testing in Talisay' This may present a problem - the one you use is TOLC-CEB-TA I'll try the one in Lahug listed for Cebu City first -if refused I'll try yours - thanks - have to send to Mindanao anyway - who knows "The authorized PETC within the GAOR of Cebu City District Office includes JPV V. Rama, JPV Lahug, Maintek Tres de Abril, Maintek E-mall, and Mc. Anderson V. Rama. In Mandaue City, the authorized emission testing centers are Nikkei Soriano St., TOL-CEB-TA Soriano St., Nikkei Subangdaku, Nikkei Basak, and VGL Soriano. In Lapu-Lapu City, these include JPV and LLYLE. In Talisay City, the authorized PETC is in TOLC-CEB-TA, D & H, Joshin, and Garnet while in Toledo City, the areas are TJL, TOL-CEB-TA, and Amie Trading." EDIT: just got to wondering - registered in Mindanao - doesn't matter where I re-register?
  22. I thought I had read a while back that it was. If so - what progress ? Another worrying example in this article. In this case - motorcycle "allegedly" counterflows - strikes car in another lane, deflects and rider is now deceased. Car driver is detained pending the filing of charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property against him Police are awaiting motorcycle rider's family "next moves" Ludicrous. I am questioning why I drive here every time I read these. Even a dash cam doesn't seem to protect you against these situations. https://www.philstar.com/the-freeman/cebu-news/bottom-article-list/2019/06/24/1929098/jdHDQhQFhJSeivjw.99 Bike driver dead, 4 hurt in separate accidents (The Freeman) - June 24, 2019 - 12:00am CEBU, Philippines — A driver who allegedly counterflowed met his untimely demise after his motorcycle crashed into a private vehicle along N. Bacalso Avenue near the Mananga Bridge in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City late Saturday evening. Brenard Abadilla, 27, a resident of Sitio Sambag, Barangay Lagtang, was driving his Honda motorcycle (1508 GX) on his way to the southern part of the city when his vehicle rammed into a Mitsubishi Montero Sport car (YJV 659) driven by Dianne Verdeflor, 38, a resident of Barangay Lawaan 1, same city. The report from Talisay City police indicated that Verdeflor’s car was heading to Cebu City when it was hit by the speeding motorcycle. The report said that Abadilla suddenly counterflowed to Verdeflor’s lane, which caused his motorcycle to hit the car’s left side. Because of the impact, Abadilla was thrown off his motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries. Personnel from the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in Talisay brought Abadilla to Talisay City District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Police said both vehicles incurred damages from the crash, though they have not assessed their value as of this writing. Police are still waiting for Abadilla’s relatives to show up to their office and inform them of their next move. Verdeflor is currently detained at the Talisay City Police Station pending the filing of charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property against him.

Can you explain this to us? Nothing will change on the Huawei models already in circulation, only the models produced after the US sanctions will be effected. So why will the current models already in circulation not be worth much?
  24. As they say, nothing is a dumb idea... "In my experience" Xiaomi phones are not marketed "well" in PH (and not at all in Australia due to I believe some legal wrangling). A shop opened in Brisbane but was closed by Xiaomi within 3 months...... compared to other brands. As stated earlier I was introduced to Xiaomi through my Niece in Singapore where they are "considered" to be a "reasonably" priced phone based on the features installed. As said earlier I'm on my 5th (I think) which includes my wife.It was the only phone my niece in Singapore had until a job change supplied her with a Samsung Galaxy The problem I have definitely found in PH is getting a replacement battery, which is of the inbuilt type. I've spoken to many "MALL" techs that can do anything but I always get "we don't stock Xiaomi sir". So it seems a spare parts availability problem. Cases/covers are another issue. Yes there are "some" generic cases but not all line up with the appropriate controls. I personally don't have an issue with the Android/Xiaomi interface but that's me and doesn't help the OP. I can't say enough good about them. Not one has died/locked up/crashed (I'm sounding like a salesmen now) except low battery life (after 3 years) which I will get done in Singapore. I chose a 64 gig version on my latest phone and added another 64 gig memory card. True bloatware is apparent but all I do is disable it. Yes, you can't remove bloatware (without rooting or changing the ROM) but it's blindingly fast so I'm not bothered and who cares there's a few programs that you don't want or will never use with that amount of memory. I'm always cautious of "farting around" with an item (eg a mobile phone) that may well be needed to call an ambulance @ 2.0am and then your fancy (custom ROM) decides to not cooperate. We'll that's me.... But if someone gave me a Samsung galaxy 10 tomorrow I'd take it. Haha Sent from my MI MAX using Tapatalk
  25. I have to agree with the above poster on this subject. I couldn't care less frankly. I am sure that the powers that be have a lot more to keep tabs on than my surfing habits. I am sure I am fairly low on the pecking order, given the number of internet users in this day and age!
