If you want to see your lady friend in her true light, take her to a videoke place. There is one in the lower level of Mango Square where you can reserve a private room, have food and drinks delivered, and sing to your (or her) heart's content. It is probably the most popular thing that Filipinas want to do. Did I mention that the rooms are private? Marshall's Pub is also on the outskirts of Mango Square. I wouldn't suggest any other places at Mango Square unless you want to take her to a girly bar (which I doubt).

Shakey's - there is no comparison between Shakey's in the US and Shakey's here. Shakey's here (at least the hand-tossed variety) is far superior to Shakey's in the US (if it even still exists). Shakey's here uses real cheeses (3) and high-quality ingredients. The sauce is a traditional (not Filipino) pizza sauce. Sbarro - if you like it in the US, you will like it here. It is identical. Sbarro has always been a thick crust (bready) pizza, so if you like that, you will like it, and if you don't, then you won't like it. They use real cheese, real sauce and good ingredients. Pizza Hut - is Pizza Hut. Again, their pizza is pretty much the same as in the US. It is a low-cost, low quality pizza, but they do use real cheese (but maybe not the best quality cheese. Greenwich - I can't figure out why you would even include them in your list. Greenwich pizza isn't even pizza. They use a thin pressed crust, sweet Filipino sauce, fake cheese and poor-quality ingredients. It certainly isn't something that most Americans would like.

Try the Luncheonette at Robinsons Cyber Mall off of Fuentes Circle. Good American breakfast, sandwiches, hamburgers etc.

  15. Is the house yours or theirs? If it is yours, put in what you want and don't ask for input. If it is theirs, let them handle things however they want to (as long as it doesn't cost you money). Some people are not happy unless they have something to complain about, so just ignore their complaining when their traditional solutions don't work. They never worked for anybody else either, but were just passed down as "Old Joe" traditions. As one of the posters said, the way to remain sane while living here is to not ask questions of Filipinos (unless you want to do it their way). That way, you don't get walls thrown up in front of you at every turn and people sabotaging your projects because they think you don't know what you are doing. When it is your project, do your own research and keep your own counsel. Even if you are working with a Filipino contractor, you have to keep overall control over the job unless you want them to revert to their old ways of doing things. By keeping total control over your projects, you get what you want and you aren't always "kicking against the pricks" (arguing against people who think they know better than you). In turn, when it isn't your project, let them figure it out on their own, since they aren't likely to take your suggestions anyway.

  19. The subdivision has 2 more wells, not so deep, those are within the recommended level, but on the high side, they do not give enough water anyway salt water is heavier than water without salt Articles to read: https://www.google.com/search?q=cebu+salt+water+in+wells&oq=cebu+salt+water+in+wells&aqs=chrome..69i57.11975j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
  20. James, You can always grab a cheap cloud server, install WordPress and be off and running. I think I pay $20 a month for mine running FreeBSD at Digital Ocean. Easily expandable as your needs increase. Doing that removes all restrictions of shared hosting companies and the software that they allow you to run as you are free to install and run anything that can be compiled and run on your operating system. I also use letsencrypt which allows for “free” SSL certificates for my domains. They issue for 3 months at a time but, I have their script in place that runs daily in search of any certificates due to expire in he coming 30 days and renews them automatically. Once set up, I don’t have much hands on to worry about at the server level. All you’ll need to worry about is updating your site and keeping WordPress and it’s plugins updated which I run scripts to take care of also. Also, with your own server, you can put as many domains and WordPress sites on it as you wish with no additional monthly charges.

Lets also tell the truth about most of the Franchises here - they usually dont cook meals, they just heat up premade food in the oven. You can easily spot this by ordering vegetables - maybe they are even hot but you will bite on mostly RAW material like broccolli, carrots and such will usually be warm but hard. Also - if youEVER tasted a real Pizza - ALL of those franchsie Pizzas are just CRAP ! And believe me I tried them all. Sbarro is the WORST of all, followd by Shakeys, Greenwich, Pizzahut and all. In fact they sell you a big amount of bread dough sprinkeld with imitation cheese and cheap meat. And most of the time even the vegetables are not even cooked but just raw. Same is for burgers, I don't like to know how much rat is in those cheap "59php with rice and softdrink" offers ... Best burger usually is BurgerKing - but only when they really let the patty on the grill for the amount of time. How often I got my patty half cold from Burger King in Ayala .... Finding meals with GOOD meat is difficult, and finding TASTY food is difficult too. Sure you can eat it all - but usually even in higher rpiced franchises you get ripped off for what you get.

  24. The civilians (construction contractors) were told to leave before the Japanese tried to land on the island, but they stayed because they knew they were needed to build defensive works. The military personnel wouldn't have been able to hold out as well as they did if the contractors hadn't stayed, and the ratio of Japanese killed to Americans killed wouldn't have been so lopsided if they hadn't done their job so well. The Americans were well-dug-in by the time the Japanese attacked. Every one of the contractors paid with their lives (executed) for their courage and dedication. Some of the military personnel survived their interment in Japanese POW camps, but every contractor on the island was executed after being held as slave labor on Wake Island during the war. It isn't only military personnel who show gallantry during war. There should have been a civilian equivalent to the Medal of Honor to give to the relatives of those brave men.

Filipino food ? Won't have to worry too much about this. I think you're staying near Fuente circle. You'll probably find yourself in the food court at Robinson's Fuente Osmena . Good for casual dining Option. Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk

There are many decent restaurants in the Cebu metro area that are worth mentioning, but here are a few that I like. New Orleans - Ayala Center: Their tenderloin steak is the best steak in the Cebu metro area. They also serve dishes that your lady will be happy with. Lemon Grass - Ayala Center: They have a fairly good Vietnamese Pho along with other Vietnamese and Thai dishes. Mooon Cafe - Ayala Center and SM City Cebu: Although most of their "Mexican" food is a terrible Filipino take on what Mexican should be, they have some great chicken fajitas. They also have "Mexified" versions of Filipino dishes. Royal Krua Thai - SM City Cebu: Really good Thai food. Vikings - SM City Cebu: In my opinion the best buffet in the Cebu metro area. They have choices not seen in an other buffet in town. Lighthouse Restaurant - on Maxilom Avenue (next to the Mango Park Hotel) or in the Country Mall in Banilad. They serve the best of Filipino cuisine (many tasty dishes you seldom see). Puebla - Banilad Town Center: Very good burritos made to order along with other Mexican food. Big Tom's Charbroiled Burgers - in the Oakridge shopping area on AS Fortuna or on Juana Osmeña St. near Escario. In my opinion the best hamburgers in the Cebu metro area. They have several different varieties and options to choose from. They also have real onion rings and milk shakes made with real ice cream (not crushed ice like most places). Shakey's Pizza - SM City Cebu and Ayala Center. Forget everything you know about Shakey's from the US. Their hand-tossed pizza is really good. They also have good hot wings. Kuya J's - SM City Cebu or Ayala Center: Decent Filipino cuisine.

Hi buddy. Long time no speak. I still have the contact details of a lass we nicknamed "Superwoman". Her place is on Via Rama. Go down V.Rama towards South Road and shortly before the junction of these two roads you will see a Shell gas station on your right. Immediately opposite is a side street with an emission test place on the corner. This is her place. Name of Mellie. Very efficient and will do everything for you. Registered many big bikes and cars with her. Still use her even though I live in Valencia now. Her number is 09235863888. Cheers - Barry
