New Law - Foreigners Can't Be Buried in Philippines

71 posts in this topic

Isn't the purpose of kicking a can down the road is to kick the can down the road? The OP is clearly based upon a tiny fragment of truth......that land ownership is restricted here. That can lead to all sorts of debates and brainstorming.

I can't wait for someone to inform us of a new import duty to be paid by travelers who return with penile implants. Or, that women with breast enlargement surgery will need to get a special permit as an exporter of silica.

My understanding is that burial plots are leased, like a condo and that's is why then can be owned by foreigners

so if you do die here can you be charged with committing an offence ?

if you have been dead for a few years i'm not sure you would be in any condition to resume your life

only if you overstay...they will drag your lazy bones down to the BI cells

So, if we die, get buried and remain on the BI books, how do we get our thumbprints on the forms at the annual report?

Well...in the first place the Philippines doesn't have a parliament...so the story is obviously bogus. Even if a bill such as this had been submitted, a bill submitted to the Philippine Congress has about a one-half of one percent chance of becoming law. This bill wouldn't even have that much chance.

That said, I told my wife that I want to be cremated and have my ashes spread at a beautiful beach here on Cebu. That way, my family gets to go to the beach every year on All Saints Day. I figure that will improve the chances that my family will actually come to visit me.

yes but the yanks pay big big rental each year just for the pleasure of having there deceased military personal burried in the military cementarys in RP, even if those brave departed souls were on active duty fighting and protecting philippine territory for the now freedome the philippino people enjoy..

Is that true that the USA and its allies are paying for cemetary rentals after giving there lives for this country?? Does France do the samething? Not meaning to hijack

i think i am paying into a burial plot at Mactan Memorial Gardens, Mother in law has some scam going, and if i lose the pass book it gets rellie ugly... as a previous poster intimated, i don't really care what they do with the left-over meat when i am done. Uncle Sugar owes me a casket and a flag, if the spousal unit wants it she can get it.

i just hope that she will not make me lay in one of those glass topped caskets. i get claustrophobic...
