Who here knows about the Laws regarding Pepper Spray for use for personal protection?
Im not aware of any. Its sale and possession are not controlled.
1. is it regulated like in some states in US?
2. can you carry on person and take to malls or boats or planes?
Planes definately no.
Boats I would think so, as PTC holders take their guns on some boats, and some boats they make them check their guns...
ITs sold in malls (but then so are guns). Seeing as the mall is private property it would be up to the malls policy if you can possess it there. If their representative (a guard) tells you no, then its no. They represent the owner.
Anything else I/we should know about having this item for "personal protection"
You should hope your not in a gun fight using it. And some people aren't affected by it very much. ALso, you should have it sprayed on you before you use it because it is very likely you will feel its effects when you use it. Especially indoors or if you catch the wind the wrong way, and if you have a severe reaction or are extra sensitive to it, you just lost your fight.
Also it does lose its potency over time. The legit stuff has an expiration date on it. I wouldn't even bother carrying it unless it was from a reputable manufacturer whose label could be trusted. I think less than lethal personal protection items should only be viewed as a last resort for people who can otherwise possess and effectively use a more effective means of personal protection. ITs best use is in less than lethal force by LE who are held cosely to an escalation of force continuum standard.
