I have just received my HuNan University (HNU) Class Schedules (starting 11th September).

Attached File  My HNU North Campus Schedule.jpg   88.62KB   2 downloads

All Classes are 100 Minutes (2 x 45 min Sessions with 10 minute break in-between).

As you can see, NO CLASSES on Monday Morning.

2 x Freshman Student Classes on Monday Afternoon                     (14:30-16:00)

(no details on  Freshman Classes/Students, yet).   2nd Class           (16:10-17:40)

This the only day with Afternoon Classes - NO AFTERNOON CLASSES Tuesday-Thursday, and NO CLASSES at all on Friday ( so only a 3.5 day /week, with less than 10 hours of actual teaching. This is like 40 hours/month, not per week).

Just  1 x Class on Tuesday Morning

Nice schedule!

Is it fair to assume that one doesn't need to 'pay attention' outside the hours of 8:00-9:40 am?

And what's a 'water teaching building'? Are your classes being held in the pool?

This is typical of Government Schools/Colleges/Universities in China.

A maximum of 8 Classes per week and each Class having 2 x 45 min Sessions, with a 10 min Break in-between.  The break between Classes varies by School, Campus, and time of year, I have found.  The lunch Breaks may be as long as 11:45 - 14:30!

So a maximum of just 12 hours (16 x 45 min Sessions) of actual teaching per week.

I only have 7 x Classes per week, so only about 40 Hours of actual Class Sessions, per month typically.   One will usually be expected to attend English Corners for at least 1 hour per week during each Term/Semester.  May be called upon to help Students prepare for Speech Competions, and possibly check English Translations of Chinese for Website or Documants for any mistakes or improvements.

The Salary however is RMB4,500 to 6,000pm but you do get FREE furnished accommodation (or RMB1,500pm allowance), and FREE Electricity/Water/Gas, and Telephone/Internet Connection (or RMB300 - 450 allowance).

As you can see from this North Campus Map. off the HNU website.

The 'Overwater Teaching Buiding is the Building to the Left of the North Entrance of HNU North Campus and is located on an 'Island' projection out into a Lake.

This is HuNan (HNU) University view, that most Tourists Visit.

This is the Square near the University Library, with the statue of Mao Zedong.

The Yuelu Academy (also as known as the Yuelu Academy of Classical Learning, simplified Chinese: 岳麓书院; traditional Chinese: 嶽麓書院; pinyin: Yuèlǔ Shūyuàn) is on the east side of Yuelu Mountain in Changsha, the capital of Hunan province, China, on the west bank of the Xiang River.

As one of the four most prestigious academies over the last 1000 years in China, Yuelu Academy has been a famous institution of higher learning as well as a centre of academic activities and cultures since it was formally set up during the Northern Song dynasty.

The academy was converted into Hunan Institute of Higher Learning in 1903. It was later renamed Hunan Normal College, Hunan Public Polytechnic School, and finally Hunan University in 1926.

It is the older, original Yuelu Acadamy, that most Tourists visit in Changsha, Hunan.
