Just been reading this thread and then clicked the link to read the posts by the "saviours of cebu"!!

What a self righteous comic book of errors they are compiling over there.(sigh)

They would be better qualified working for the local press judging by the inaccuracies on that joke of an "official" website they operate.

I guess that is what happens to uneducated snakes that can only really get on in life by kissing the mayors behind whenever they get the chance.Tsk tsk.

The funny thing is that anyone connected to the mayors office usually knows exactly where the best VIP rooms are located and make best use of them.he he

VIP freebies on the mayors bequest tonight boys!!

Don`t forget your rosary beads though. Your gonna need them.

Hypocrites and clowns ALL.

Entertaining though!! :D

that most, -if not all- filipinos are quite conservatieve, and relatively traditional. Whereas most "westerners are used to -more or less- public nudity, this is not common in the Philippines. Just look at the swimsuits most people wear; it's shorts and t-shirts + underwear, -quite different from what most ex-pats are used.

In addition, I have some thoughts along the lines that this might be a result of envy and -maybe- jealosy. Keep in mind, the ex-pats have a degree of freedom that most filipinos vcan only dream about, -including officials! Like, we can -litterally speaking- go anywhere we want, to any country, whenever we'd like! As far as my norwegian passport is concerend, the only coutries where I need a visa, is most of the arab countries, Japan and mainland China. Now, most filipinos can only go to the ASEAN countries, -they can not go to, -say, Europe or the US- without a lot of fuzz with visa's.

As an example, my sister in law is married to an engineer, who have been working outside the Philippines, for 25 -30 years. By filipino standard, he have a very good income, and their standard of living is well above average. But it is completely impossible for her to understand that I, as a retired, can have a pension bigger than her husband, the engineer's salary. Basically, because she have no comprehension of the scandinavian prinsiples of social democracy. And, I'm sorry to say, this creates some tension in the family.....

In addition to all this, the religion have a big influence, in these parts, regardless of what we ourselves may think of religion and simluar....

Maybe it's worth considering "tuning down" the part(s) about nightlife in favour of more practical exchange of info, so to speak?

by locals, I have been told, that most of the "bikini bars" are run by, or on behalf of, local "tycoons".....

Maybe there's an element of "protection" in all this too....?

How could they othervise carry on this business which, under filipino law, is forbidden?

The server may be US, but this forum was hosted at DreamcodeDesign in Cebu.

Maybe they still are. Dreamcodedesign uses a server with Layeredtech which is based in Frisco TX USA. www.dreamcodedesign.com and dreamcodedesign.com and forums.dreamcodedesign.com are all on the same IP address of 72.232.211.202. Probably the elaborate description of 'their' NOCs is taken from LayeredTech's facilities and Dreamcodedesign is just a reseller. Certainly the backbones listed are US based.

NOC1

...

The NOC is connected to Gigabit links of Internet backabones from Cogent, Verio, Time Warner, and Williams, and additional OC3 links from Savvis and DS3 link from ELI.

NOC2

The network is fully meshed and redundant with 6 backbone providers- ATT (OC3), UUNet (OC3), InterNap (2x100Mbps), Qwest (1Gbps), and Cogent Communications (5x100Mbps).

Windows and FreeBSD Hosting

The Data Center housing our Windows and FreeBSD hosting is OnNet with Level(3) and and Qwest, ...

I'm looking for a particular steel (might also come in aluminum) product but know that without a "sample" I'm going to be pretty much SOL finding it here without knowing the real name of it or at least having a picture.  So I think if I describe it here maybe someone will known the name or perhaps a brand name or something.   Here goes...  Take a piece of heavy gauge 1.25" square bar.  Remove about  a 3/4" wide strip from the middle of one side and curl the 2 cut edges back towards the opposite side.  Then down the opposite side put a line of say 3/8" holes all the way down.  Maybe every 5th hole is a double so it's like 3/8"X3/4" slot.  I thought this was called speed bar or rack bar or something like that but Google isn't helping.  What's it called?

I finally had a chance to eat at Cru steakhouse in the Marriott Manila. I heard a few references from our friend @miles-high and thought I would check it out.  Sorry Miles, I was severely disappointed. The wine list was horrible, I mean it was dismal. Come on. They ran out of the best wine on the list after one bottle. I asked if there was a sommelier on staff and the manager came over and informed me they were about to re-do the wine list, "maybe in June or July". What a joke! The wine list was shit. This place is supposed to be "the best" so if you want to be the best then have something other than  a $25 Mondavi Cabernet on the list as a feature. Horrible wine list. I can buy better at Rustans. On this occasion it wasn't about cost, and well,  they couldn't deliver. We asked for a proprietor's list, and it didn't exist. In fact the 'manager' didn't even understand what a "proprietor's list " was. I had to explain it to her. How embarrassing for her, and Marriott.  Regardless it was horrible. I don't mind paying 4-5 or hey, lets get on it and spend 10 times retail for a really good bottle of wine. After all it is allegedly the best steak house in Manila. Well, not even close!  They tried selling me a $25 bottle of Robert Mondavi available in every Walgreens  for 15k PHP. What a load of shit. The best bottle for value  on the menu was an Aussie Shiraz and they only had one bottle available. OK so moving on past the wines, after all its a steakhouse, right? So what about the steaks? Sous vide for the steaks with reverse sear tastes different than a properly cooked steak. I was NOT impressed at all. This was probably the worst experience I've had at a signature Marriott restaurant anywhere in the world.  Avoid at all costs and save your pesos boys. That was a complete waste of my time and money. I could do better getting pissed up at home, with a few  run of the mill steaks from Kroger and about 30 minutes of my time in my outdoor kitchen.  What a huge disappointment. The staff were great but they can only do so much. I blame the food/bev manager at Marriott for this disaster.  Never again starts my thoughts on Cru Steakhouse Manila.
