They "took out" the British Sky team and Adam Yates riding for a non Btitish team. Both Geraint Thomas and Adam Yates were seen as potential winners of the Giro d'Italia 2017. Yates lost 4 minutes 39s and Thomas lost 5 minutes 8s.

Don't mess with Italians !

Plod was actually parked, maybe some of the cyclists need to look up occasionally.

The motorcycle was stopped partly over the line , and the riders had nowhere else to go .

Plod is British slang for the police, taken from a dippy policeman kids cartoon character.

He was only a foot over the line, plenty of space in the outside lane but they prefer to huddle

Plod was incorrectly parked, he should have realised that the cyclists would take a close line to the edge, he should have parked a few metres up the road on the right, where there was more than enough room and well away from the actual race line.
