The deadline to exchange old bank notes has been extended to June 30, from the end of March, before they are demonetized and lose their value as legal tender, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas said Thursday.

The central bank also extended the demonetization deadline for the old banknote series to July 1 from April 17.

In terms of individual bills, the old notes comprise 8.6 percent of all money in circulation. In terms of value, it accounts for just 2 percent.

The March 31 deadline for overseas Filipinos to register their old bank notes for exchange was unchanged, the bank said.

So a genuine 100 peso note from 2003 will now be worthless

But a fake 1898 Spanish one peso coin still costs 800 pesos on the Mabini street sidewalk in Ermita?

So confusing!

Hi I still have some old pesos notes that need to be changed. Can anyone help advise if there is a limit amount I can change at the bank? Do I need to bring any documentation for the change at the bank? Thanks in advance!

I exchanged about 5K worth last month...I cant imagine there would be limit.. but who knows every bank branch might treat it a bit differently.     Anyone remember the old 10 peso bill that had two  heros placed on it.. Locals commonly referred to as the bakla bill ?

Asleep at the switch, is all I can say. This is news to me, and not good news. Can anyone guide me to, or provide, a list that details which bills are going away? Since I'm in the US, are my options only to mail to someone in the RP or hand to some one arriving RP before 6/30? Thanks for your help.
