Do i need to change my IP?

25 posts in this topic

I teach English online (Skype) which works very well.

Here's the problem: The website I use to report my classes and mark students attendance won't allow me to update anything. I am able to access the site and search students, but it doesn't allow me to make any entries.

I have 2 laptops here and the problem is on both of them.

However, If I hotspot my cellphone to my laptop and use my Globe sim the problem is not present.

My house provider is PLDT and it seems clear to me that the problem is somehow to do with PLDT.

Will changing my IP adress somehow fix this?............ I'm at a loss and I don't want to talk to PLDT for obvious reasons :)

I am appealing to all of the experts here for advice.

Thanks in advance guys (gals)

It is your public ip assigned to you by the ISP

it is probably black listed

that happens with a lot of IP's in the philippines

you share that public IP with a lot of other users

I had this problem  with my e-mail provider

they blocked my public IP

maybe you can turn off and on the PLDT modem/router

and be lucky to get another public IP, but no matter how many times I tried still same ip

also I tried to have the modem/router off over night still same

get some kind of VPN that should help

Unless you paid for a static IP, then as Woolf points out, you have a dynamic IP.

I suggest you turn off the router overnight - this usually solves the problem.

If this doesn't work, you might try speaking to PLDT to ask them to assign you a new dynamic IP.

Thanks for the insight Woolf....... the site is not actually blocked, it's just that I can't make any changes....... I would prefer to get to the bottom of the problem.... my connection is only 1.5mb and a VPN will slow it right down I think. It's been fine for more than 18mnths.

Ok Skywalker, I'll try turning it off overnight, I'll also ask PLDT about changing my IP add.

I've been using this IP for 18mnths and it's been fine...... WT* LOL

well the  way my problem was solved

was that GLOBE came out and changed my modem/router

then they assigned another IP to my modem/router

My problem was that I could access my e-mail provider ok

but not login to my mail account

you said that if you access via your globe sim it is ok

well sure sounds as an ip blocked problem

you can read but not write anything

Are you sure that the site you are viewing, which you can't interact with, isn't just a cached version?

I had the same problem many years ago, when a friend used my internet, and got himself banned from a site that I used regularly.  I disconnected from my ISP for a few hours, and that did the trick.  I'm not sure if it is still that simple, but worth exploring anyway.

I'll see if I can get any sense out of PLDT...... but not very optomistic....... You know what it's like here haha
