Unfortunately there are reports of fatalities and several injuries starting to show up on twitter.

I was thinking about him as well. Apparently there are widespread power outages in that area, so maybe that would explain why he has not checked in yet.

Felt a bit here in Davao del Norte also, lots of FB friends are in distress in surigao.

We didn't feel this tremor at all where I live in North Mandaue City. I have a feeling that the area where I live is somewhat protected by faults in the area that reflect shock waves back toward their point of origin, rather than letting them sweep through. If that is the case, then I hope those fault lines never rupture because it will be disastrous here, with the shock waves bouncing back and forth between those same fault lines. There are fault lines everywhere around the Cebu Metro area. Some of them are pretty major. Most people have no idea they are even there.

BTW, my MIL in Dumlog, Talisay City felt the tremor just fine. They are very close to the coast. She texted my wife because she was worried.
