Fixed the title. Thanks. Good thing this one was out at sea rather than on land. No tsunami warnings either, so all appears to be ok.

It certainly got my attention here in Davao....I cant believe it did not follow with a Tsunami?

It apparently got the attention of a lot of people in Davao.

Dabawenyos evacuate due to 7.2 earthquake

EMPLOYEES and students from different establishments in Davao City quickly evacuated offices and buildings following the magnitude 7.2 earthquake Tuesday, January 10, in Sulu.

A Facebook post from Sittie Hapsa Datu-Ali Maganaka of Davao City showed employees of a BPO firm milling outside of the building after they were told to evacuate.

"We will call u back later, my apologies we need to log out. It's earthquaking in our area," her Facebook post reads.

An Intensity IV quake shook Davao City as well as Malita and Davao Occidental that led many establishments to cancel regular operations and schools suspending their classes.

At 2:13 p.m. Tuesday, a magnitude 7.2 quake rocked Tongkil, Sulu with epicenter at 223 kilometers southeast of the municipality and a depth of 625 kilometeres, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

At the Ateneo de Davao University (Addu), students, faculty and employees gathered at the open ground of the university to secure themselves against the possible impact of the quake.

It suspended classes for sometime before it resumed normal classes.

Philvolcs director Renato Solidum advised the public that there was no reason for the public to get worried since there were no recorded damages and no tsunami warning was issued.

The quake was tectonic in origin.

Department of Labor and Employment-Davao information officer Kriztja Marae Labrador said, an alarm was set off to signal employees to immediately evacuate the building.

"We used what we learned from the national simultaneous drill," Labrador said. She said their knowledge during regular drills helped them on how to react during the quake.

After it was cleared, the people were then instructed to return to the building as they no longer saw any sign of danger.
Phivolcs said an Intensity III tremor was felt in Iloilo City, Kiamba, South Cotabato, Caraga and Boston, Davao Oriental.

An Intensity II also rattled the areas of Mati, Davao Oriental, General Santos City, Cagayan De Oro City, Lake Sebu, Polomolok, Tambakan and Tupi, South Cotabato.
