Pickpocket stabs Aussie in Bacolod

Carrying a knife is not illegal if you carry one for a lawful activity, my activity is cutting up fruit, it might be a good idea to use it for cutting up fruit so you cannot be proved wrong with tests.

"3.  It is unlawful to carry outside of one's residence any bladed, pointed or blunt weapon such as "knife", "spear", "pana", "dagger", "bolo", "barong", "kris", or "chako", except where such articles are being used as necessary tools or implements to earn a livelihood or in pursuit of a lawful activity. Any person found guilty thereof shall suffer the penalty of imprisonment of not less than one month nor more than one year or a fine of not less than Two Hundred Pesos nor more than Two Thousand Pesos, or both such imprisonment and fine as the Court may direct."

I very much doubt that the reglamentary period is less than 2 days. This cannot be for the charge of attempted homicide.

That "knife" is forbidden here, also a kubotan - if police stops you and find that you will be charged for carrying a deadly weapon !

As I learn Arnis now (philippino martial arts) my sensai also trains us for sselfdefense against daggers and knifes and such.

So he always explains why not to carry weapons like knifes as police will sure confiscate that and maybe cile a charge.

With Arnis I only have my rattan stiks in my car - or maybe one of them with me - and in case I get controlled "its just a stick Sir" - even police knows that and won't do anything (and I always have my membership card at hand to proof I do Karate/Arnis).

This is illegal but your "Stick" isn't? My Kubaton is just an over sized key ring

A flat end kubotan like yours wouldn't be a problem. Just don't carry one with a pointed end.

For those concerned with breaking the law, and we all should be, how about a Tactical Pen, as good as a knife but with some doubt that it was meant to be a weapon, my wife and I both have them.
