James don't you have generator?

I have one at our farm but not here on this little island where I am building this facility. I will have one here later this year once I have all the wiring and pump installations completed as I will need one to insure I can maintain all the platonic algae, rotifer, copepod, brine shrimp and shrimp production tanks as well as saltwater and sump pumps and aerators. This small facility will be hosing almost 96,000 liters of saltwater in a closed circulation system so having a fuel generator will be paramount to have installed before I can begin lobster production.

I simply did not have time to secure our boatman to take me and our boat over to the farm on Dinagat Island to get our small generator and bring it back. Once the storm hit we had the 34 footer dry docked with the canopy down so it would have required a few able bodies along with myself to drop the boat back into the water as well as trying to get our boatman here to take us over. The shallow areas between the small islands here are both tricky and dangerous so one is wise to have an experienced boatman who if familiar with the waterways because conditions here change very quickly with the tides. There are quite a few boats lost here every year so it is wise to always err on the side of caution. One little miscalculation and at best you will bend or drop a propeller or bend a shaft, worse is to slam into a reef or rocks, and if that were to happen while the heavy swirls ate active you can lose a boat or a life.

Now going into the rainy season of next year I will not be caught without one here on this island plus I should have at least solar panels installed as well as wind generators which will help insure that I will have a viable source of energy besides a fuel generator if we were to get hit again. Now if we had evacuated here we would have taken or boat to the farm on Dinagat Island as we can get it up into the mangroves and take it up river where we can pull it out of the water. Once on the farm, if there is a power outage, than all is needed is to flip a switch in the fuse box and a quick pull of a rope and we have lights. But here on the island were this project is we are still a little more primitive still.  :biggrin_01:

Don't know how long this has been an issue, but over the last few months Netflix and Amazon movies have been buffering, lately it has become annoying so I started looking into it.   I am in the US by the way, but think this could be an international problem. I am with Comcast Infinity and should have 20mb service with a Motorola SB6121 modem 6 to 7 years old.   This is not a rented modem from Xfinity, I own it. I have avg of 3.2 download and around 1 upload.   I contacted tech support and they were pretty good on the phone, but emphasized that this is not their modem so speeds are not guaranteed. After 20 minutes of on the phone resetting things, removing router from system they declared my modem is the problem and they want to send me one of theirs. At $10 month rental. I don't trust them but cannot seem to find a way to tell if it is the modem and cannot seem to find a way to test it.   Any thoughts on this or websites would be appreciated.

I'm driving to SFO later today (Sat) and will land in Cebu Monday morning... pretty damn excited, not looking forward to that long ass flight. I will take a small hit at currency exchange at the airport for some quick cash, then go to a Bank by the mall later on. I am bringing some cash and trying to avoid the fees for using my CC in Cebu. Lots of tee shirts, shorts have been packed, flip flops, sandals, and a pair of comfortable slip on's and short socks for the slip on's (not for the sandals  ) some American snacks, protein bars, and I plan on buying a ton of bottled water... no tap. I had a few trips scheduled but the weather looks like it will cancel a couple of them... just going to play it by the seat of my arse.  This will be my first visit in what I hope will be many. This is a precursor to possibly living there in the coming years once my mom (who I take care of) passes... I am so out of this chit state of Cali!!!. On paper I am planning on 3 visits this year, next in July, then at the end of the year, probably Christmas time (only if I am good with the first visit) I will be meeting the woman I have been talking with for half a year, and I will be meeting a member from LINC who befriended me after I got blasted by a few on here when I mentioned meeting a woman, and how I was supposedly doing it all wrong. (Thanks to Shadow for giving me some pointers) If I don't like the Phils then my next targets are Belize and Chiang Mai (possible business op with a friend) Nothing carved in stone, but I hope the Phils works for me. I'll probably be silent for about the next 2 weeks... but no promises if I feel I need to share some pics or something. In regard to pics... I noticed on here there are very few photos of of the members or things they are doing etc... shy? Scared? Protective? Too ugly?    Peace
