People inspire you or they drain you, pick them wisely.

Do not regret growing older, it is a privilege denied to many.

Just drove in March. There is so much traffic and possible delays, you have to spend the night. Said that, I would start off as early as possible even if you stay overnight, maybe 2 nights would be more appropriate. Last time I did the drive was 30 years ago, it was much nicer and you could really enjoy the scenery, these days you have to focus more on traffic.

Maybe even consider flying in.

Thank you for info re Key West… Took us about 3.5 hours each way… Most boring drive haha ;) Temp and humidity make it rather uncomfortable there… Much more comfortable in Miami, FLL, HI… We went to some of the best “recommended” restaurants… all tourist traps… better to eat at BK (with a bottle of good red wine ;)) or even IHOP better in the Keys… :D

Once is enough, she says… Cities she would like to visit again: NYC, Miami Beach, Paris, Tokyo, Venice…  :)

3.5 hours, I think you got very lucky!  Hot and humid,  your kidding it's winter, I'm wearing socks.   Well then nothing has changed if the eateries still suck, mostly they are for selling vast amounts of alcohol to tourists.

I did a dive boat tour out of Key West that was a rip off one of the worst trip I ever took.

Did you spend the night, Mel Fischer museum, Malory square?

Nice and often "cold" on MIA Beach last night but Key West, it was so hot and humid (last Sunday and Monday anyway) :)

If she is interested in aircraft, the Naval Aviation Museum is in Pensacola..off the beaten path as its just about as far West as you can get in FL but worth a look see...

Thanks but we will be leaving on a cruise ship now… and she must go back to school by 2nd week Jan...

But this summer, we intend to either 1) drive from LAX on I10 to JAX, then I95 to get to I80 then to SFO, PHC down to LAX, or 2) rent a C172 and fly the same route, giving her close to 100 “dual x/c” time! Will definitely visit the Naval Aviation Museum, Smithsonian and the Air Force Museum!

As you know, the u students get almost 3 months off (mid-May to mid-Aug)! I am hoping I can get that much time off this summer, if I cannot, I would suggest her take some summer session... haha ;)

If you are going to fly to or from LAX do your best to get to Chino and check it out....worked a little bit with Frank Taylor in the early 80's Chino is a fascinating place
