the price of the apples is going to clean you out if you want to make your own cider.
obviously, you can't grow them (apples) in the Philippines. If making your own cider from apples you either buy at a reasonable price, or grow yourself, is really all that important to you, try moving to Australia. Apples cannot possibly grow in a climate like the Philippines.

if you're that dead set on making your own alcohol in the Philippines, you will need to utilise the crops available. Try rice, rather than apple, wine. If you have talent, you might even be able to create something decent.

Tuba is DREADFUL but I CAN drink it "neat".
However with Coke it is potable and @ PHP 50** a gallon eminently affordable and does not give a Hangover -- 2 me.

normal grape vine in the Philippines is quite cheap by south east Asian standards.
I never drink cider, even when I'm somewhere where there's an apple orchard only yards away, but just out of interest, how much would you expect to pay for apple wine in the Philippines?

There are ciders on supermarkets also like Robinsons. If you want more expensive ones, try Healthy Options

apple wine is shite, even when it's Scrumpy in Somerset. Heaven knows what that garbage tastes like in the Philippines. If you're going to drink wine in Asia, make it rice wine. That's shite too, but at least you're going with the territory.

In Saudi we used to make a quaffable beer, lowenbrau, by adding a pinch of yeast to a decanted can of the non alcoholic beers they always sell in the supermarket. i thought about the same principle here of amateur brewing here in Pilippines, maybe buy a good quality apple jiuce - Harvest Best from Makro, enoough to fill a demi john then add some yeast, perhaps a little sugar to start the fermentation. I am not looking to get a firkin or a hogshead, just a ice cold glass before lunch.
