just make a quick trip to the hospital to see one CDO Expat who wish to donate his type a- blood. We were told to come back tomorrow because RED Cross is the only one authorize to extract blood...????? Is this so???????? I was really thinking it could be done right away because the donor is there already. By the way below 60 or 62 is no longer qualified to donate. Living here below one year will disqualify a pssible donor. I never would think that there so many restrictions in trying to save a life!

This is sheer lunacy and bureaucracy gone mad. Is the Red Cross the only organisation capable (or not!) of handling blood donations?

This didn't hold true here in Cebu, Mark, and Daisy. When I donated blood last year for David Whitall's mother-in-law, both times, I did so at South General Hospital, located in Naga, Cebu. But, in knowing the Philippines as I do, that probably changes from one province to another. It wouldn't surprise me, although I don't see why the hospital couldn't take the blood directly.

I thought had a thought that I wanted to throw out there. Mr Hunt is in CDO now and there is talk about trying to get him stabilized enough to get him to the US. I know that he might need to be stabilized a lot more to get him on a 12 hour flight to the US, but what about a 3 hour flight to Guam? It's a lot cheaper and once on Guam he can use his medicare and at least he is continuing to rack up a bill. Plus it might be that it would be on the onus of Medicare to get him onto the mainland. I am just throwing that out there as an idea. I might be wrong

At last type A- is now in the Red Cross CDO.....

Due to request of some guys in the US who wish and is working for the fund raising for Mr Hunt we have opened a BPI account for the purpose. here's the account:

Expats' Ladies Charities, Inc.
Savings Account# 009323-0175-03
BPI Cogon Branch
9000 Cagayan de Oro City

We can also issue Official receipt if you want.! We also have agreed during our emergency meeting this afternoon that the organization will not get a penny from this fund raising campaign! Whatever we have given to him is coming from our 200 pesos monthly dues.

However due to so many holidays I am appealing that at the moment let it be sent to Western Union or Xoom for his day to day medicine. Linda and Aurea were already asked by the hospital staff to sign a waiver if ever they could not provide the daily prescription amounting to more than 12K a day. There is a medicine that shocked them because it cost 7K each. I ask Aurea to photocopy all prescription for the me so that I could scan it and email to everyone WHO ARE after the well being of Mr Hunt. Please send cash donations to

Aurea Songcuya, 211 Consolacion Street, Cagayan de Oro City, PI, 9000.

The blood will at last be given to him tonight at 11pm...the 50 dollars donation have given it to Aurea and Linda. It is 2,341 pesos. Another bag of blood is also available from Cebu as confirmed by Red Cross Cebu. WHAT IS NEEDED RIGHT NOW IS CASH FOR THE MEDICINE!!!!! THIS IS FIRST AND FOREMOST SHOULD BE OUR CONCERNED. I asked Linda not to signed anything except for a promissory that we gonna pay the bills of Mr Hunt soon. Nothing else!!!!!!!

Note for Kaloy and Nalyn:

I was not able to pick up the money yet but I just gave them the amount from my monthly home budget...will pick it up later.

Greetings to all!

Today is the first day that Mr Hunt is being given the most needed A- blood and Praise God we were able (through all our exerted efforts one way or another to COMPLETE ALL HIS NEEDED MEDICINE! i know ICU nurses will also be happy about this! When the hospital agreed to admit him in ICU without the 20K pesos down payment, on top of their existing old bills, Linda, the mother in law knew the RULE imposed to them, NO MEDICINE NO TREATMENT! They are considered out patient in an ICU! Ever heard about this? For me, it's my first time to know that one could be an out patient in an ICU room! But anyway, this is the Philippines!

Our blood donors are expats from CDO, Cebu and Dumaguete....hopefully we could have the 2 bags soonest. We will pray that the holy days will not hinder the transport of the blood. yesterday, knowing that we were not able to complete the medicines, I am scared to look at him in his ICU bed. Linda has only 3500p yesterday, 2,341.75 pesos of that comes from here.

Here's the medicine we bought for today until tomorrow at 4pm: (day one)

Omepron 40 mg/10ml @ 578.75p ....................................Php 1,057.50
Potassium Chloride 20m 6 vials @ 50php................................ 300.00
Tienam IV 500mg 3 vials @ 1689,25p.................................... 5,067.75
Fluimucil 200mg 3 tabs@ 18.50p.............................................. 55.50
decilone forte 4pcs@24p........................................................... 96.00
Combivent 500/2.5/2.5 5@45.25...............................................226.25
Co-diovan 3tab@18.50...............................................................55.50
Cardarone 200 mg 2@ 86.50.....................................................173,00
Levox tab 2 @ 189p..................................................................378.00
Kalium Durules 3 @ 23.50...........................................................70.50
glucometer vial @ 2,060p........................................................2,060.00
TOTAL...........................................................................
.......9,540.00

For the 500cc blood of Mr Bernd of Expat CDO
Red Cross laboratory fee is 1,150.00
Hospital laboratory fee is 1,200.00

Hopefully another 2 bags will be arriving from cebu and dumaguete

As out patient in ICU we also bought: underpads, adult diaper, alcohol, triple distilled water, Oracare, wipes total 480.00p

CBC Lab 4 time a day @ 100p..................................................400.00
Potassium level twice a day @ 300p...........................................600.00
Sugar level every 6 hours @ 100...............................................400.00

Over all total today..............................................................13,770.00

I asked where's the insulin and Linda told me, he still have and Linda also received 2 boxes of dextrose from her relative working in the government.

Aside from the blood, all of the above medicine should be administered within 7 days according to Aurea and Linda.

Todays money comes from:

Eugene and Jennifer Murphy of Bayogan, Agusan del Sur..............5,000.00
I borrowed personally from our family budget..............................5,500.00
Linda's cousin..........................................................................
.4,000.00
Total...........................................................................
...........13,900.00

The food of Linda and Aurea is from their relatives or I don't know maybe from Jane Laze Hunt .....I hope to God Jane Laze will be able read this email because her email address is rejecting all my emails or somebody close to her in the US!!!!!!! :dreams:

HERE'S HOPING AND PRAYING FOR ANOTHER MIRACLE TOMORROW AND SOMEBODY'S HEART WILL BE TOUCH BY GOD TO PROVIDE DAY 2.

For your donations tomorrow, GOOD FRIDAY Philippine time, please deposit it to the account of:

Delilah McCrea
BPI Cogon Branch
Savings Account #589559 9329 0277 99

So that we could continue what we have started today.

The only way I know of for sending money through Paypal is to send it using Xoom.

Using Xoom you can use credit/debit card, bank account, or Paypal. Xoom is cheaper than Western Union. And by using one of the Xoom Promotional codes.. it is very cheap... FREE! Here are the current Xoom promotional codes:

YourFreeXoom
genfrexfer
genhalfexter2
sendandsave
HELPJAMAICA

Where to send it.. You can either send it so the money can be used Friday or this Easter Weekend you will send it to Delilah McCreas BPI account so she can get the money with her ATM card.. or send it for pickup at M Lhullier or Cebuana Lhuiller. There is a 24 hr pickup M Lhuillier 2 blocks from the Hospital. The Capistrano St. location.

The account for Delilah is Delilah McCrea BPI (Cogon Branch) Savings Account #589559 9329 0277 99

Daisy, just told me that the mother-in-law of Thomas hunt said the Thomas needs his medicine at 5pm.. in 45 minutes. If he does not get the medicine today he will have to start all over on the medicine regimen which he just started yesterday or Wednesday. No money no medicine, unfortunately..

Money sent to BPI will take several hours or longer to be available in ATM... if there is any money left in ATM

Money sent to M Lhuillier or Cebuana Lhuillier will be available when they are open... except for the 24 hour locations of M Lhuillier, when money can be picked up anytime... I do not know for sure about Holidays. Here are the M Lhuillier locations in Cagayan de Oro. http://www.mlhuillie...=Cagayan+de+Oro There are 4 24 hour locations... Maybe someone could call the branches and see if any of them are open Good Friday or Easter Sunday..

I felt the need to share this to you guys, had I accepted the invitation to chat or talk with Ms Stephanie, the writer, this would have come out differently...but then still the truth will prevail in the end!

Hi Daisy:

I don't know Mr. Hunt but the reason I donated 20,000 pesos is because I feel that you needed that support. He made some bad choices (we all do that sometimes) but he was foolish on top of that, believing that a 40 plus years younger woman would make him happy.

He is old enough and should have known better.

Anyway, I still hope that he will make it somehow,

Yes, Cris we really hope that he will make it somehow...apparently the last two days, the family here was able to provide for his medicine. before I was informed on her whereabouts in the US, we were able to chat and I was even happy that she is now joining us in our fund-raising for her HUSBAND! I sent to her the link of the video that Jeaneth took in his hospital room, day before he was rushed to the ICU! Sent to her the medicines he needed and made sure she understand how crucial that his treatment should be administered on schedule!.

Today your money was not cleared yet so we took our own initiative and borrowed 20K , as promised Linda that we will buy today's meds. Here's how we spent it.

Medicines for today until tomorrow afternoon: ROSE Paharmacy
1. ZEN ALB 20% IV Sol. 50ML..........................Php 3,762.00
2. HEMOSTAN 500mg 4 pcs@ 25.15...........................100.60
3. TIENAM 3 pcs @ 1635p.....................................4,906.65
4. LEVOX 500MG 2 @ 188.90................................. 377.80
5. DIFLUCAN 150mg 2pcs@516.80............................1,033.60
6. Kalium Durules 6 @ 22.95....................................1.033.60
7. LASIX 20mg ......................................................... 65.00
8.SINOKOT 4 tab @ 4.65............................................. 18.60
0. Fluimucil 200mg 4 tabs@17.80..................................71.20
10.Combivent 500/2.5/2.5 6 tab @44.15.......................254.90
11.Calcium Lactate 8 tabs@ .65......................................5.20
TOTAL.................................................................10,743.25
for 4 of us we spent for lunch and gas......................... 500.00
I am paid with the...................................................5,500.00
We decided to pay me my previous money spent.......1,500.00
TOTAL................................................................18,243.25
balance.................................................................. 1,756.75
Another blood from Cebu will hopefully arrive tomorrow so we have money for processing fee. So far, there's no other request for blood from his doctor. The 3 bags have been covered already...because third bag of blood is a reserved

We don't give CASH to her family but we asked from her mother the prescription for today and we bought the medicines and delivered it to her in the hospital.

If in any case somebody here wanted to help him, we will just guide you or just address and mail your check to POLYMEDIC GENERAL HOSPITAL, maybe this is the best way.......We just hope that the our hearts' desire to help Mr Hunt in any way we could will not be hindered by what we discovered about Janelaze Hunt (Dermott?????)
Please above everything, we will pray for his healing and declare that GOD is in control of this situation!!!!

April 14

Last Tuesday was another challenge because we only was able to have 75 dollars from Tom Landry and Jack.
Aurea and I received 75 dollars

April 15:

Somebody, a blood donor from SOS Philippines asked me to post the urgent need of Mr Hunt in the forum and and right away 15thousand pesos pledged and was deposited to our account. This prompted us to borrow money making the pledges as collateral. 10K borrowed from Max, CDO Expat, plus the money I received from Mr Lee of welcome to phil forum 6500, as his pledged to me last year, (this money is supposed to be my own refund already for last year's project) So we completed the medicine in the total amount of 15,780 pesos.

please take note that albumin or zenalb is twice a day @ 3,180 and Tienam at 4 times a day is 1,635.00

Our total loaned is 16,500
but before we went to hospital, Jeaneth received 2810.05 from Wllliam and Mila Britt which she immediately gave to me!
So 16.500.00p less 2,800.00p makes our/ my loan to 13,700.00pesos

April 16.

Today as per our last chat last Tuesday Janelaze, promised that she will send money for medicine! I hope she will!!! This is why I am optimistic that I can pay my loan, after all we have 15K in the bank as of yesterday's SOS pledged.
But she sent only 100 US dollars and she sent the control number to me for her sister Aurea to pick up! The four of us Jane, Jill, Laila and me have a short meeting and discuss if we are going to get the money from Aurea for today's medicine. We decided just to ask them how will they use it and Linda said she is going to have the laboratory done for Mr. Hunt. Jill, being a nurse explained to us it is also very important....off the 100 dollars of Janelaze!

We went to bpi bank bringing the prescription and withdraw the 15 thousand pesos from SOS Philippines forum! THANKS!!!!!!!

We still have some pledges, and we take your word for it guys! so we bought the medicines:

Rika Drugstore Cogon........... 1,307.75
Rika Drugstore Divisoria.........6,360.00
Save More Pharmacy................897.70
St. Ignatius Pharmacy............5,132.25
Lunch and transpo for 4.............500.00
Load for calling his family in US..100.00 (sun IDD 100 for 20 minutes)
TOTAL.................................13,797.70 approxx...13,800.00 pesos
change .................................1,200.00

Our loan now is only 12,500.00

Just an hour ago I received this in my email:

Hello Daisy and Ted,

Just wanted to let you both know that I sent USD100.00 converted to PHP4638 to the BPI bank account of your Charity thru my PayPal account via Zoom. I used one of their promotion codes so there wouldn't be a service charge. Don't know when its going to get posted so if you don't see it there soon, let me know so I can track it down if there is a problem. I just hope it's not too late to help Mr. Hunt while he's still alive. I wish I could send more but this all came at a bad time for me with a big tax bill owed to the IRS, my wife's health insurance premium now due and some construction work taking place at my house. Maybe by this time next month I'll be able to make another contribution to Mr. Hunt's care.

I also want to say, like many of the other ex-pats, I appreciate what you and your group is doing to help Mr. Hunt. He deserves better that what he is getting right now. I just hope the efforts being made to get him into a VA hospital in the U.S. will eventually materialize. Keep up your good efforts and don't be concerned about all the rhetoric coming from Fairfax, VA. Keep us all posted on any progress in his situation. Bye for now.

Stephen Dodge

Please just figure how much we need tomm!

By the way, today we went to hospital twice. We let Ted Hammon, his step son in the US talked to him in the celfone. Upon request of Ted, the hospital allowed us to take some pictures but at this time I am so sorry to say that my partner Jill has to wait until tomorrow to download those pictures from her phone to her PC. We have the chance to talk with the nurses and they are all thumbs up by the cooperation that they get from Mr Hunt! All of them said that with just continues medication, Mr. Hunt will really make it! We told him Tommy hung on...and he nod his head and even try to speak! For awhile the ICU became a venue for picture taking! Yes he is in a critical condition but a very good patient!!! He responded to all his medicines positively!
He is recommended for another CT scan, CBC, Potassium, Sugar level laboratory tests! Will require around 6000 pesos more or less because CT scan is around 5K already! I am not a medical person but he is improving a lot from the first time he was in the ICU! Take note also that he gave his nod on our "pictorials"!

Well, I guess I should have clarified myself. For me anyway, I don't need to know figures. Daisy, I know you are trustworthy. :)

I am concerned about his condition. :)

Mr Hunt's plight is sad, however not uncommon for a person travelling overseas without adequate medical insurance. Even when over 70yo, this insurance is still available (at a higher premium).

Why do some people think "It wont happen to me", then have to rely upon others when it does happen?
